🐺 NC State’s red wolf conservation efforts were recently shared on a national level thanks to a special Earth Week segment on the Today show. 🗨️ NBC’s Emilie Ikeda interviewed College of Veterinary Medicine faculty and students about their conservation efforts to help the most endangered wolf in the world. GOHA Affiliate Member Tara Harrison was one of the CVM faculty interviewed during the segment. Harrison states, "It was an honor to be able to showcase how the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine faculty and students partner with the SAFE American Red Wolf Program to a national audience" The NBC segment can be found in the article below 🔽 https://loom.ly/8B_z5qU

A week ago I was so happy to have the chance to attend my first research conference at the One Health Research Symposium with Willamina Ingle! I have enjoyed water quality projects in the past, so following up on the testing we did back in the Dominican Republic is really exciting. I learned a lot about poster crafting and summarizing a lot of information in a short time (Huge props to Willamina for showing me a lot about that). Big thanks to NC State Global One Health Academy for putting this whole event on, as it was not only a great chance to present our research but learn a lot from others in the One Health Academy. While my major is not directly connected to One Health, it was still a great chance to learn about interdisciplinary perspectives and I will make an effort to return to next year’s symposium as well! Also a massive thank you to Rohan Parashar, Diya Rau, Emma Budden, Halee Reinhardt, and Francis de los Reyes III, Ph.D., BCEEM, who all worked with and guided us on this continuation of the project into the research phase. I can’t wait to continue to work with y’all on the future of this project, and without you we couldn’t be where we are today.

Last week at the One Health Research Symposium, I had so much fun collaborating with Henry McDevitt to create and present a poster. This poster was an amazing milestone for a project that has been incredibly meaningful to me. As I start my journey in Water, Sanitation, and Health (WaSH), working on this project has been a great source of growth and inspiration. Thank you to the NC State Global One Health Academy for putting on this engaging symposium, giving us the opportunity to share what we have been working on and learn about so much other amazing work going on at NC State. I am so excited to continue working with the Global One Health Academy and furthering my development as a global health advocate as a Global One Health Scholar this upcoming school year! I would also like to thank those who worked with Henry and me on this project, Rohan Parashar, Diya Rau, and Halee Reinhardt, without whom this poster could never have happened, as well as Francis de los Reyes III, Ph.D., BCEEM and Emma Budden for your stellar leadership and guidance.

Feeling so grateful to have attended the One Health Research Symposium and to present alongside the incredible 2024–25 Global One Health Fellows! 🌍🔬 It was inspiring to learn from peers leading innovative, interdisciplinary research grounded in the One Health approach — connecting the health of people, animals, and our shared environments. I had the opportunity to share my project: “Ready, Set, Resilience: Case Studies on Integrating Resilience Education Across Disciplines” —exploring how a nature-based, interdisciplinary curriculum can support ecological, personal, and community resilience in coastal NC schools. Thank you to the NC State Global One Health Academy for supporting this important work and building space for connection across fields!
