The NC State Global One Health Academy (GOHA) core team and students had an incredible visit to the North Carolina State University Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST). The CMAST facility is a hub for faculty, staff, and students from three colleges and six departments. It also welcomes staff from NC State University’s Science House for Educational Outreach and the NC Marine Biotechnology Center of Innovation for Economic Development. We learned a lot about the incredible interdisciplinary work CMAST is doing in coastal and marine science research, outreach, education, and serving the people of North Carolina. We are excited to work with the CMAST group soon. Thank you David Eggleston , Director CMAST, for giving us the time to meet with faculty and show us around the Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs, North Carolina State University- College of Veterinary Medicine

🐺 NC State’s red wolf conservation efforts were recently shared on a national level thanks to a special Earth Week segment on the Today show. 🗨️ NBC’s Emilie Ikeda interviewed College of Veterinary Medicine faculty and students about their conservation efforts to help the most endangered wolf in the world. GOHA Affiliate Member Tara Harrison was one of the CVM faculty interviewed during the segment. A week ago I was so happy to have the chance to attend my first research conference at the One Health Research Symposium with Willamina Ingle! I have enjoyed water quality projects in the past, so following up on the testing we did back in the Dominican Republic is really exciting. I learned a lot about poster crafting and summarizing a lot of information in a short time (Huge props to Willamina for showing me a lot about that). Big thanks to NC State Global One Health Academy for putting this whole event on, as it was not only a great chance to present our research but learn a lot from others in the One Health Academy. While my major is not directly connected to One Health, it was still a great chance to learn about interdisciplinary perspectives and I will make an effort to return to next year’s symposium as well! Also a massive thank you to Rohan Parashar, Diya Rau, Emma Budden, Halee Reinhardt, and Francis de los Reyes III, Ph.D., BCEEM, who all worked with and guided us on this continuation of the project into the research phase. I can’t wait to continue to work with y’all on the future of this project, and without you we couldn’t be where we are today.
