About us
From a small farm in Rose Hill, NC, the Murphy family established their roots in the business world by under promising and over delivering. Wendell Murphy Sr. and his father, Holmes Murphy, entered the business world together in 1962. Through hard work and a daily investment in the enterprise, they began to recognize opportunity. That entrepreneurial spirit would help other local farmers make more profitable use of their land and resources. Their new implementations helped to revolutionize the agribusiness, and in large part helped bring the industry to where it is today. Through the vision of Wendell Murphy Sr. and his two siblings, Harry “Pete” Murphy and Joyce Murphy Minchew, the Murphy family grew their family business into much more. After years of successful farming, the family began investing in other businesses. Some businesses were started from scratch, while others were already established. Today, the companies run by the Murphys strive to continue the tradition of excellence that the early Murphy family embraced. Wendell “Dell” Murphy Jr., Wendell’s son, created Murphy Family Ventures in order to bring the Murphy business endeavors under one management group. This management group provides services to help smaller companies be more focused and efficient in their operations. Murphy Family Ventures continues to embrace the tradition of under promising and over delivering, a tradition that runs to the roots of the Murphy family.

We had an awesome time connecting with students at our annual Murphy Family Ventures Career Fair, hosted at @madboarrestaurant! 🎉 Huge shoutout to our amazing recruiter, Megan Jensen, for organizing the event and kicking things off, and to Vice President and Director of Support Operations Wen Murphy for the warm welcome. Students had the chance to explore nine interactive booths and speak directly with our incredible team members from various departments—learning firsthand about the careers MFV has to offer. We were also excited to have James Sprunt Community College join us to share valuable info about community college opportunities. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this event happen and to all the students who participated. We’re already looking forward to making next year even better!

Congratulations to Carlos Chirinos from River Landing Golf Course Maintenance on 25 years with MFV! Golf Superintendent Chris (Peter) Futral said, "When Carlos came to River Landing he was as green as they come. Over the years he has evolved into one of the best employees I have ever had the privilege to work with. He’s been with me through storms, hurricanes, floods, tournaments, employees that came and went, 13-hour days watering bent grass greens (back in the old days), renovations, countless projects, and so much more. Carlos interprets for me to the guys who can’t speak English, trains new employees, and is the lead on most jobs or projects that we do. He is the hardest-working man that I have ever seen and makes my job a lot easier. I’ve told him that he can’t quit RL until I do! This little quip can not come near describing his work ethic and the respect that I have for him. Really, he is the best employee I have ever had. Cheers to twenty years Carlos. I hope we have many more years together."
