In February, we hosted an inspiring conversation on The New Lunar Society, the latest book by MIT Professor David Mindell. Joined by MIT colleagues Suzanne Berger and 2024 Nobel Prize winner Simon Johnson, the panel explored how Enlightenment ideals — collaboration, scientific curiosity, and progress through making — can guide a new industrial age. Special thanks to everyone who joined us, and to C-SPAN's booktv for capturing the event. Visit our website to learn more about upcoming author talks at the MIT Museum: https://lnkd.in/edNG6yie

Recently designed ‘Future Type’ at the MIT Museum in collaboration with the Future Sketches group at MIT Media Lab, run by Zach Lieberman and curated by Jonathan Duval. This exhibit is centered around creative coding and typography. Featuring playful projections and an interactive motion sensor experience, the space is brought to life with environmental graphics inspired by deconstructed letterforms. It is on view until Spring 2026. A special shoutout to the dedicated team including Alexander Harrington, Ann Neumann, Rob Gainfort, and Tyler Hollis Derryberry for bringing this vision to fruition. Thrilled to share that the MIT Museum has been selected as a recipient of the Urban Design & Architecture Design Awards 2025 at the Gold Level for our exhibitions, created by MIT Museum Director of Galleries and Exhibitions, Ann Neumann in collaboration with STUDIO JOSEPH. "Housed for over two decades in a converted warehouse, MIT’s Museum’s educational mission, collections, and community programming had outgrown their facilities. The construction of a university campus in Kendall Square provided the opportunity to create a new multifaceted cultural institution. The exhibitions serve an educational imperative of community engagement and support of learning as a critical part of achieving social equity. Given that public misinformation about science and technology has reached new heights, the museum design is “inside out,” meaning that the new facility is front-facing and transparent so that the community is part of the dialogue."
