This week, Miller Kaplan Partner Andrea Williams, CFE spoke at the Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA) event hosted by the Bay Area/NorCal chapter. She shared her insights on the value of the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation and her career specializing in ERISA clients and labor organization benefit funds. "The CFE credential is more than a title—it represents integrity, analytical rigor, and a deep understanding of fraud risk and prevention. It formalized my years of experience and sharpened my investigative approach, particularly in complex employer compliance matters," Andrea shared with event attendees. Founded in 1938 to increase opportunities for women in accounting and finance, the AFWA provides members with resources to accelerate their professional growth. National Board Director Maryann Boller, who coordinated the event, emphasized the importance of in-person connection, noting, "There's really no substitute for warm interaction among your peers... Events like this create an environment that excels at fostering meaningful connections with professionals in the accounting and financial industries. The old adage is true—you may not remember what someone said to you, but you will always remember how they made you feel.
