On Saturday we welcomed ~30 LA high school students to the Microsoft Technology Center in Irvine for a Hackathon and these kids were SO. INSPIRING!! We talked about Copilot, what GPTs are, and the art of the prompt- but the day was about so much more than that. The challenge: LA county has communities filled with talent but limited resources. What are the biggest challenges South LA faces? How can we create a solution? What followed were app and services ideas brought to life by Copilot like: - "Detox Camp Plan" to guide through daily steps to recover from addiction. - "Path to Citizenship" to deconstruct the journey to becoming a US citizen. - "Brick by Brick LA" to identify and transform abandoned buildings into safe havens and shelters. - "Gamer Connect" a hub for gamers to share ideas and build together. "Your condition is not your conclusion"- A powerful message their program director reminded as we wrapped up, as it was not just about the technology. The true outcome of the day was building confidence, nurturing their mindsets, and envisioning future career paths. What I love most about working at Microsoft Innovation Hub is the opportunity to collaborate with very cool customers to tackle digital transformation challenges using Microsoft technologies.
