It's #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek! MGH Aspire celebrates Neurodiversity year-round, but this week marks an important moment to elevate this work and ask yourself as a professional what more you can do as an #inclusive employee, manager, or colleague. Neurodiversity in the Workplace Tip: Refresh your team meeting structures! Think about this as your way of doing some spring cleaning. Team meetings bring together people with different communication profiles, roles, goals, and needs. To make your team meetings most accessible to a range of minds, re-commit to a consistent meeting structure and clarity of expectations. A consistent structure creates more predictability, which can reduce anxiety and, as a result, increase clearer thinking and communication during the meeting. A visual agenda serves as a grounding point for all participants to reference through the meeting. Adding quick cues written in to the visual agenda will also help participants best follow the ‘hidden’ social curriculum, for example, when an item is FYI vs. up for discussion. In addition to some other tips in the visual below, remember to allow for processing time if you are soliciting feedback live during the meeting. Some team members may be able to jump in faster than others and to truly reap the benefits of a heterogeneous team, the meeting facilitator may need to add this important structure so that all minds have the opportunity to contribute. #Neurodiversityatwork

Today is #ADADay! On this day in 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed into law the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). On July 26th we celebrate this important civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The purpose of the law is to make sure that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. Thank you to the individuals and allies who have worked and continue to work tirelessly! #ADA34 #ThankstotheADA #neurodiversity #neurodiversityintheworkplace Learn more! https://lnkd.in/gx4wMTZ
