MDC is proud and excited to provide services to 98 affordable housing units at Viridian Grove in Tacoma! Opening summer 2026

Metropolitan Development Council (MDC) has funding available to assist low-income residents of the City of Tacoma who are behind on their utility bills. MDC offers several programs, including energy assistance to help you catch up on bills, weatherization services to improve your home’s energy efficiency, and support for homeowners who need help transitioning to electric heat. To qualify, you must live within the Tacoma city limits and be behind on your utility bill. Income eligibility is based on the chart below or being at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Even if you’ve been denied in the past, you may still be eligible because of funding restriction changes. We’re thrilled to be part of Aviva Crossing, a brand-new affordable housing community opening in Tacoma. In partnership with Mercy Housing, Aviva Crossing will provide 129 much-needed homes, with half of the units designed for families in two- and three-bedroom layouts. Located near Tacoma Community College and key transit connections, this community will offer residents easy access to schools, jobs, and essential services. And MDC will be right there, providing case management, job readiness programs, financial literacy support, and healthcare resources—helping individuals and families build a future of stability and success.
