Congratulations to Kaiser Permanente for pioneering the new frontier of powering Healthcare! Friday’s ribbon cutting ceremony for the Ontario Medical Center Microgrid is a remarkable milestone for our industry.   ABOUT THE PROJECT: - Funded by an $8.35MM grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) in 2019. - Capable of sustaining the critical branch of a hospital’s power system for 10 hours or more, it is the largest capacity healthcare microgrid in California and one of the largest in the nation. - Setting new standards for supplementary energy resources for emergency power at hospitals, expected to be reflected in the upcoming code cycle. - Incorporates solar, fuel cells, batteries, and existing diesels, significantly reducing fossil fuel consumption and offering ancillary utility services.
