We’re asking veterans and members of the veteran community to submit a short video (about 30 seconds) introducing themselves, their veteran connection, and what motivates them to run. We marked one year of the End Veteran Homelessness campaign with a visit to New Bedford, where we met with veterans and toured the Veterans Transition House. In just one year, we’ve helped nearly 200 veterans secure permanent or transitional housing — and this is only the beginning. Thank you to all the providers and partners driving this mission forward. One year ago, we launched a bold campaign to end veteran homelessness in Massachusetts — not with slogans, but with real, measurable action. Today, nearly 200 veterans are no longer unhoused. Families have been stabilized. And a system that once waited for a crisis now works to prevent it. This is what progress looks like — and we’re just getting started.

Service doesn’t begin or end with the uniform — it lives in the hearts and homes of every military family. Freedom is a shared sacrifice, and on Gold Star Spouses Day, we honor those who have carried the unimaginable weight of that loss. You are in our hearts today and every day.

We’re thrilled to announce the appointment and first meetings of our two new HERO Act Commissions: the Veterans Alternative Therapy Working Group and the Veterans Quality of Life Commission. These teams will drive innovative, evidence-based solutions to support veterans’ health and well-being across Massachusetts.

This Vietnam Veterans Day, we pause to honor and remember the sacrifices made by our Vietnam veterans. To commemorate the day, Deputy Secretary Andrea Gayle-Bennett joined the Swampscott community for a breakfast and ceremony recognizing those who served in the war 50 years ago. Tomorrow, as we honor Vietnam Veterans Day and those who served, we also approach the end of Women's History Month. Did you know that Mass General nurses like Sheila Long, Barbara Goral, and Jane McCarthy played a critical role during the war?
