At Maplewood at Strawberry Hill, residents share their passion and expertise with one another as one resident guides another through the art of flower arranging. These meaningful peer-to-peer interactions provide more than just a beautiful end result; they foster connection, purpose, and continued learning among older adults. Activities like flower arranging stimulate cognitive skills, enhance fine motor control, and provide sensory engagement while creating opportunities for creative expression and social connection—all vital components of maintaining quality of life and well-being at Maplewood.

Residents of Maplewood at Newtown gathered for an informative evening as Officer John McDermott led a discussion on scam prevention. The event welcomed friends, family, and community members eager to learn how to protect themselves from fraudulent schemes. Officer McDermott highlighted some of the most common scams, including gas pump skimming, banking fraud, telephone cons, and deceptive mailers. The key takeaway? “Don’t be fooled. When in doubt, don’t do it.” Residents were encouraged to stay vigilant, trust their instincts, and never hesitate to hang up or decline suspicious offers. To further support the community, Officer McDermott provided educational literature containing tips and resources for scam prevention. The evening concluded with a Q&A session, allowing attendees to share concerns and seek advice. Events like these empower our community with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe.
