ʻAʻa i ka hula!
"The residents had so much fun learning the basics of hula," shares Marissa, Receptionist at Atria Park of Vintage Hills. Finding her love for Polynesian dancing in 2012, she danced professionally for two years. "It's been a while since I performed, but I still dance on my own because it's one of my passions."
By leading a hula dance class at her community, Marissa shared her passion with residents. "Their faces and spirits lit up the room! One of the residents wanted faster-paced music, so I turned on Polynesian drum beats, and they all danced in perfect rhythm to it."
Dressed in leis and sarongs, residents were fully immersed in this cultural celebration. "I loved seeing the energy and creative expression take over and transport them into the present moment, a place of paradise," adds Marissa. "The Spirit of Aloha was very much alive that day, and it truly was a blessing to serve them in that way." 🌺
