Sam Crawford, a former ASIRT (Addressing Systemic Inequities to Reduce Tobacco Use) grantee, is now one of the Louisiana Cancer Research Center's (LCRC) Office of Community Engagement Community Health Workers (CHW). As a former ASIRT grantee, Sam played a pivotal role in helping LPHI draft model school tobacco and vaping policies that emphasize restorative approaches for addressing youth tobacco use instead of punitive measures. Sam’s continued commitment to health education and equity makes him an invaluable partner to LPHI and a true asset to his community. We thank him for his ongoing dedication and service
The Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) Office of Community Engagement (OCE) is excited about the work its nine statewide Community Health Workers (CHWs) are embarking on. These LCRC OCE CHWs, in partnership with the Louisiana Community Health Outreach Network (LACHON) are educating Louisianans about tobacco and cancer prevention and cessation services, while connecting persons to LCRC and the Louisiana Cancer Prevention & Control Programs (LCP) Nurse Navigators. The CHWs (from left to right - top to bottom) are: Jennifer Gonzales, Sam Crawford, Quiana Fulwiley, Ebony Grogan, Gwendolyn Daggs, Katara Duncan, Dain Lewis, Danell Spillman, and Elisia Smith. We are #StrongerTogether in the fight against cancer.
