So awesome to see our Alzheimer's Advisory Board members and community partners joining forces. Thanks so much for your dedication and work to engage and educate community. Conversations Matter! PS: I see the L2E flyers for the next Alzheimer's webinar on April 28. Thank you for spreading the word. Daryl Love Gina Haynes-Sanders Dr. Joseph Owens Jacquelyn Lee
While team members may move on, many continue to champion our mission long after. Gina Haynes-Sanders, a former Bluegrass Care Navigators provider liaison, is one of those dedicated voices. We recently met to explore how BCN can share information about our services and support the Links2Equity health advocacy work with community leaders: Rev. Dr. James Thurman – Pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Paris, KY, and State Commander/Chaplain of the National Association of Black Veterans; Rev. Dr. Joseph Owens – Pastor Emeritus of Shiloh Baptist Church, and Jacquelyn E. Lee – President of the Frankfort/Lexington (KY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. These conversations matter. They help us stay rooted and in community needs and connected to trusted leaders. #HealthEquity #CommunityCare #BCN #VeteranSupport #FaithAndHealth

👏🏾👏🏾 Thank you, Dr. Deborah Stroman, Ph.D. CLU, for captivating our audience during our recent Alzheimer's webinar, “Fighting Gender and Cultural Stigmas Around Alzheimer’s Disease and Care in Black Communities.” Here are 3 key takeaways from the powerful conversation: 🧠 1. Culturally Tailored Outreach Matters By 2030, 40% of Alzheimer’s diagnoses are expected to affect Black and Brown communities. Reducing stigma, educating early, and involving trusted community leaders like pastors and barbers is critical to improving access and support. 🏀 2. Meet Black Men Where They Are Dr. Stroman shared insights from the Black Men’s Brain Health Initiative, emphasizing the power of culturally relevant safe spaces—like sports or music gatherings, retreats or conferences—to foster open dialogue, reduce stigma, and support early brain health engagement among Black men. ⚖️ 3. Structural Barriers Must Be Addressed From historic mistrust to underrepresentation in research, the disparities are clear. Progress depends on culturally competent care, equitable funding, and uplifting the next generation of researchers of color. 📧 For questions or additional information about this webinar series, please contact Links2Equity at info@links2equity.com. 💜 Please follow Links2Equity to stay connected and be part of the movement for awareness, advocacy, and equitable Alzheimer’s care. At Links2Equity, we recognize the challenges faced by individuals navigating rare cancers—from delayed diagnoses to barriers in accessing treatment. That’s why we appreciate Pam Rattananont, MPH’s insightful article "Navigating Rare Cancer Journeys: Empowering Patients, Building Stronger Healthcare Systems," which highlights the key priorities we share: 🏛️Rare Diseases & Policy – Advancing legislative efforts for equitable care. 🤝 Community & Partnerships – Strengthening networks to support patients. 🧭 Patient Navigation – Ensuring no one faces the healthcare system alone. As Dr. Harold Freeman said, “No person with cancer should be forced to spend more time fighting their way through the health care system than fighting their disease.” Yet, many rare cancer patients struggle with insurance hurdles and fragmented care. Join us in amplifying this important article and advocating for policies and partnerships that prioritize rare cancer patients. #RareCancer #HealthEquity #PatientNavigation #PolicyMatters #Links2Equity
Excited to share my contribution to the latest issue of the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship (JONS), focusing on the challenges of navigating rare #cancers. Huge thanks to Jamie Kistler, Dakota Fisher-Vance, Tracy Rode, CNE, and Robert Long for sharing their stories and championing improved #patient care. Amidst current hurdles in clinical research and healthcare, it's crucial to recognize the individual behind the statistics. Policies, education, advocacy, and community support play a significant role in enhancing patient outcomes. Looking forward to connecting with many of you at #RareDiseaseDay on February 28th in Washington DC, celebrating the resilience of the rare disease #community and advocating for enhanced #accessibility to care and #treatment advancements. #ClinicalResearch #Cancer #RareDisease #PatientCare #HealthcareAdvocacy #Navigation, AONN+, National Organization for Rare Disorders, Uplifting Athletes, Patient Empowerment Network, EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases, Matthew Zachary, Matt Toresco, Candice Roth, MSN, RN, CENP, Deanna Darlington, Stacy Hurt 🌻, Michael Pearlmutter, Deborah Requesens, Stephanie Fischer, Karlin Schroeder, Nan Doyle, Elsa Wilson LaVita, MBA, Jeanne M.
