Our libraries and museums are at risk. The recent executive order to defund the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) threatens critical programs that foster lifelong learning, combat social isolation, and provide essential community resources. For over a decade, Lifetime Arts has partnered with libraries and museums to bring the proven benefits of creative aging to older adults. Without IMLS funding, these programs—and the millions who rely on them—will suffer. 📢 We urge Congress to protect IMLS funding. Libraries and museums are not luxuries; they are lifelines. Join us in taking action. 🔗 Read our full statement here #SaveIMLS #LibrariesMatter #MuseumsMatter #CreativeAging #LifelongLearning #ProtectLibraries #ProtectMuseums

Creative Aging is Healthy Aging
About us
Lifetime Arts imagines a world without ageism and social isolation, where creative aging is embraced as a fundamental human right and an essential driver of health and well-being. To work towards this, we bring together bold ideas, practical strategies, and people to weave creative aging into the fabric of our communities. What is creative aging? Creative aging is the practice of using artistic and creative engagement to enhance well-being, boost physical and cognitive abilities, and enrich our overall quality of life as we age. Creative aging is more than just a fulfilling pastime; it’s a crucial element of a healthy, vibrant life. Creative aging programming can take many forms, including but not limited to art classes, theater workshops, storytelling sessions, music-making, and intergenerational arts projects. These programs not only support healthy aging, but also break down stereotypes by showing that growth and creativity are possible at any age. How do we help communities age creatively? Lifetime Arts is focused on two strategic goals. We’re working to establish creative aging as an essential part of healthy aging policies, practices, and master plans at the state and federal levels. At the same time, through training and initatives, we’re expanding the availability, impact, and accessibility of creative aging practices nationwide. We do this through training folks who serve older adults, consulting with organizations and agencies on creative aging plans, creating tools and resources, and building multi-sector partnerships across the country.

The Creative Aging Foundations Trainings were a tremendous success! We brought together 25 representatives from organizations across Boston—including libraries, museums, and cultural institutions—along with 25 talented artists, all united by a shared mission: to enrich the lives of Boston’s older adults through arts programming that combats social isolation and expands access to creative opportunities in our city. A huge thank you to Goddard House for funding this vital initiative, to Lifetime Arts for their incredible leadership and facilitation, and to the City of Boston’s Property Management team for their support in making this event run smoothly. This work is only possible because of dedicated partners like you!

Great op-ed written by Ellen Michelson, founder of our longtime partner EA Michelson Philanthropy, for Next Avenue. Love this quote "The arts have the power to add not just years to life, but life to years." #creativeaging #HealthyAging #AgingPolicy

Our own Julie Kline was interviewed on the Nonprofit Show yesterday! Tune in for this great 30 minute conversation to get a bite-size overview of creative aging and how it can be a part of your work, no matter what your mission.
What if #nonprofits viewed #aging as an opportunity rather than a challenge? Julie Kline , Director of Program Strategy at Lifetime Arts, reveals why "creativity is vital for healthy aging". By 2034, adults over 65 will outnumber kids under 18 in the U.S.—a demographic shift nonprofits can’t ignore! Yikes!!! Julie shared with Julia C. Patrick how Lifetime Arts helps forward thinking #NPO's to integrate creative aging into their work. Ready to shift your perspective? Stream it: https://lnkd.in/gGgXWyS2 👴 👵
