Congratulations to Friends of Johnson County Library on their ribbon cutting today, celebrating the significant expansion of their Book Nook outlet where you can find great deals on gently used books and support local libraries at the same time! Friends of Johnson County Library is a member-supported non-profit organization promoting community awareness and participation in library services, serving as library advocates and promoting literacy and lifelong learning. Located in Pine Ridge East, managed by Block Real Estate Services, LLC, the expansion has doubled the Book Nook’s size to roughly 10,000 sq ft, allowing Friends more space to accept, sort, store, and sell the 600,000 used books and other media donated by the public and weeded from the Johnson County Library every year and offered at weekly sales (more than 16,000 items, including adult and kids’ books of all kinds, with prices starting at just 25-cents) on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-3pm at this location. Lenexa residents voted to keep Lenexa moving forward! Renewal of the dedicated city sales tax will provide certainty and continued investment in road projects, parks, and recreational opportunities, priorities for our businesses, workers, and residents. Visit https://lnkd.in/gfi3Dt5G to learn more about projects the sales tax has supported since 2008 and ones it will support in the coming years.
With nearly 80% of the vote in yesterday’s special election, residents of City of Lenexa have approved a 20 year renewal of the City’s 3/8-cent sales tax, which will continue to support parks, trails and road projects through 2048. This investment in our community speaks volumes of the incredible staff who make good on the promise we make to deliver exceptional service, and the trust we’ve earned from the public to continue to do so. We are truly grateful. Let’s go! 💙
