Our Guardianship Advocacy Project (GAP) was highlighted as a model in a report from the The Full Frame Initiative for our client-centered approach that prioritizes the interests of protected people. The State of Nevada and our dedicated staff have worked hard to implement significant reforms to the guardianship process, which has been the scene of some horrific cases of fraud and abuse in the past. GAP defeated 25% of guardianship petitions in Clark County and was able to terminate 18% of guardianships due to cause in 2021. On Monday, our students in the Tenants' Rights Legal Residency made a powerful impact at the Nevada Legislature! Alice Samberg and Kaycee Johnson Atherton joined Assemblywoman Considine to present AB223, a bill aimed at improving rental property habitability, while residency students Alex Andreozzi, Heabin Pyo, and Ariana McConnell testified in support from Las Vegas. The Tenants' Rights Legal Residency is a join venture between Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and the Thomas and Mack Legal Clinic at the Boyd School of Law.
