Our KIPP Child Nutrition team recently hosted the 2nd Annual Sodexo/KIPP Texas Future Chef Recipe Competition in Houston! 🎉 Five talented Little KIPPsters (Kinder–2nd grade) brought their best recipes to the kitchen at East End High School on March 7, competing for top honors. 🏆 And the winners are… 🥁✨ 🥇 1st Place: Emmy Diaz 🥈 2nd Place: Dominion Sanni 🥉 3rd Place: Dynver Payne Our judges had the tough job of tasting every dish before naming the winners! A special shoutout to last year’s champ, Zoe Carole, for helping announce the winners, Mosaic Media (M&M) for capturing the event, and Joaquin Guevara Iglesias, a KIPP Journey Collegiate junior, for his incredible photography! 📸✨

Since the beginning of this school year, 43 students from KIPP Northeast and KIPP Generations high schools have been exploring innovation through our partnership with the ExxonMobil Foundation Teen Engineering & Tech Centers (TETC). 🎓⚙️ Last week, they proudly presented their final projects at the TETC Student Showcase—walking us through the engineering design process and showing what’s possible when creativity meets opportunity. Our Kindergarten KIPPsters at KIPP SHINE Prep had an unforgettable visit from the Houston Texans and Mattress Firm to celebrate #SleepAwareness Week and #ReadingMonth! During the event, our special guests talked about the importance of getting a good night’s sleep to be ready to learn and how reading helps our minds grow! Then, the Texans cheerleaders and their mascot Toro dropped by to share his new book, “Made to Be a Mascot,” former Texans player Wade Smith read this fun story to our Little KIPPsters. To top it all off, our Big and Little KIPPsters received some awesome goodies from the Texans, and each classroom got a copy of the book! Plus, our KIPP SHINE cheerleaders wowed everyone with an exceptional performance. What a day to remember!
