The EPA has extended the comment period for the proposed Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) by 45 days, now closing on May 19, 2025. This extension provides stakeholders additional time to review and submit feedback on the proposed permit changes. The EPA proposed 2026 MSGP will replace the current permit expiring on February 28, 2026. Yesterday, the SEC officially withdrew its defense of the climate disclosure rules, marking a major shift in regulatory oversight. Initially adopted in March 2024, these rules required companies to disclose climate-related risks and emissions but faced legal challenges that ultimately led to their suspension. SEC Acting Chairman Mark T. Uyeda cited concerns over costs and intrusiveness, confirming the Commission will no longer support the rules in court. As regulatory landscapes continue to evolve, businesses should reassess their climate disclosure strategies and stay informed on both U.S. state and global requirements. KERAMIDA’s experts are monitoring these developments and are ready to assist with best practices for voluntary and regulatory sustainability reporting.
