Our team was stuck until we asked AI for "outlandish ideas that no human would ever suggest." We laughed at first at the absurd suggestions. Then something clicked. Those wild AI-generated ideas broke our creative logjam, sparking connections we hadn't seen before. This experience taught us something valuable: AI isn't about replacing human creativity—it's about expanding it in unexpected ways. This mindset shift is crucial as organizations navigate AI adoption. According to a recent Ernst and Young report: - 76% of workers report AI has positively impacted their work, but significant worries remain. - About 75% fear job obsolescence. - 72% worry about negative salary impacts. - Two-thirds express anxiety about falling behind colleagues who master AI tools faster. These concerns are real, but they don't have to define our relationship with technology. We see AI handling repetitive tasks while our people focus on creativity, judgment, and meaningful connection. We encourage continuous learning, emphasizing "profitable growth" that delivers value for clients, job seekers, communities, and our company. Staying curious allows our teams to adapt more effectively to technological change. AI can take on the mundane aspects of jobs, creating mental space for coaching, connecting, creating, and consulting. Looking ahead, we envision AI that anticipates needs, curates personalized learning opportunities, and matches team members with the right skills for specific projects. Those who view AI as a collaborator rather than a threat—as we did when we asked for those "outlandish ideas"—will lead in innovation, productivity, and creating meaningful work experiences.

The workplace power balance has begun tilting back toward employers after years of unprecedented employee leverage. This shift presents both an opportunity and a responsibility for business leaders. At Kelly, we've witnessed these cycles throughout our almost 80 years in workforce solutions. What we've learned is powerful: companies that maintain their commitment to people during power shifts don't just weather economic fluctuations—they emerge stronger on the other side. While some organizations might view this moment as a chance to dial back flexibility, cut well-being initiatives, or deprioritize retention, we've seen firsthand how this approach can backfire. The most successful employers recognize that power shifts are temporary, but reputation is enduring. By focusing on outcomes rather than monitoring activity, viewing employee well-being as essential rather than optional, and continuing to prioritize retention of key talent, companies create resilience against future market swings. Even as the balance shifts, the organizations that continue seeing people as their most valuable asset—not just resources to be managed—will build the loyal, engaged workforces that drive sustainable success. How is your organization navigating this changing balance? We'd love to hear your perspective.
