Dr Jo Kandola, PhD, CPsychol, shares her views on the recent letter to Harvard University from the Trump administration. 'The letter appears to make a bold, yet contradictory, demand: uphold merit-based recruitment and admissions, while simultaneously dismantling all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. The question that immediately comes to mind is - does the Trump administration even understand what DEI is?' What makes an effective recruiter? Good recruiters are more than just decision-makers. They are skilled evaluators who collect relevant data and make judgments based on evidence. Research shows that the most effective recruiters possess three key skills: 1️⃣ Organisation 2️⃣ Objectivity 3️⃣ Analytical thinking Being organised. Research consistently shows that structure is the single biggest predictor of a successful interview. Being objective. Good recruiters do not make assumptions, and their judgement is not influenced by bias. Being analytical. A skill crucial after the interview when examining and classifying the evidence against the job criteria. If you're a recruiter, hiring manager, or responsible for recruitment in your organisation, take a 10-day free trial of Inclusive Recruitment, where you'll learn more about what it takes to be an effective recruiter and the skills needed to make fair and objective decisions during the hiring process. The Power of Personalised Analytics in Unlocking Growth. Callum van Dyk recently supported SACA, our sponsorship partner on their tour in Abu Dhabi, where they played a series of cricket matches against First X1 County Cricket sides. It was the perfect environment to apply our iLEAD diagnostic tools to help players understand themselves better, particularly when performing in pressurised situations. Each player completed a bespoke tool designed to assess key psychological and performance-based coping skills. This included factors such as resilience, self-doubt, self-efficacy, and adaptability – qualities just as critical in leadership as they are in elite sport. It was the first step in building meaningful, individualised development plans. Read the full article here - https://lnkd.in/gg2maShz #Leaders #DiagnosticTool #ELearning #Growth

In a recent poll, we asked over 300 HR leaders, 'Do you evaluate your DE&I training?' Over 50 percent said 'No'. We understand that measuring the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion training can be challenging, but if you're not measuring the impact, you lack a clear way to demonstrate its ROI or track meaningful change within your organisation, leading to cost inefficiencies and misspent resources. Kandola+ is an intelligent, scalable online learning platform. Our programmes see 95% of learners demonstrating more inclusive behaviours, compared to just 20% skill retention in standard corporate training. Our analytics function allows you to get insight into how inclusive your people are and where their strengths and areas of development are. It also measures the effectiveness of our inclusion programmes to ensure you're getting a return on your investment. Plus, you'll see a fundamental shift in workplace culture. To take a closer look at our programmes, try out one of our diagnostic tools or request a demo, please visit - https://lnkd.in/ePNRXMEn #BehaviourChange #Impact #DEI #ROI

Microaggressions vs Micro-incivilities: Why the Words We Use Matter. You've probably heard the term micro-aggressions pop up in conversations about diversity and inclusion (D&I). It's used to describe those subtle, often unconscious comments or actions that can come across as disrespectful or insulting to marginalised groups. Sounds straightforward enough, right? But here's the catch – while the term has gained a lot of attention, it's not without its issues. Dr Jo Kandola, PhD, CPsychol explains why "micro-aggressions" might not be the most helpful term, explores the problems it can cause, and introduces you to an alternative: micro-incivilities.
