🌟Our next highlight for Women's History Month is Brenda Vandegrift! She is our Director of Engineering at KAIROS! "As a career engineer, I really didn't think much about women in sciences, more specifically engineering, in the earlier years of my career. However, after a few years into our careers, my sister (also an engineer) and I would have countless discussions on why there were so few women in our meetings or included in the projects or programs we supported. At that time, I started making a conscious effort to assist and mentor other women in technical fields. As the years progressed, I progressively took more active roles in both formal and informal mentorship as well as speaking engagements at colleges, STEM events, etc. highlighting the possibilities open to other women in the broad arena of engineering. I have also been privileged to work for international organizations throughout my career and have had the distinct pleasure and honor to mentor women from other countries and cultures. I am currently a leader and formal mentor as well as informal mentor in my role as Director of Engineering for KAIROS, Inc., a women owned small business. However, with the National Women's History Alliance's 2025 designated theme “Moving Forward Together", I believe this is an opportune time for us all to lean forward even further in identifying and executing plans to give back to future generations through education, mentoring, and leadership." . . #KAIROS #WOSB #NationalWomensMonth #InternationalWomensMonth

🌟Our first highlight for Women's History Month is Brandy Lawrence who serves as the Director of Contracts & Pricing at KAIROS! With over 26 years of experience in Contract Administration and more than 34 years in financial management and budgeting, she has built a career grounded in diligence, expertise, and continuous improvement. "Born and raised in St. Mary’s County, I grew up watching my parents work tirelessly with little reward. Their perseverance instilled in me a deep determination to build a successful career and create better opportunities for myself and my family. From the beginning, I embraced challenges—taking on tasks, streamlining processes, and continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness. I made it my mission to understand every aspect of my work, becoming a subject matter expert in my field. Now, 26 years later, I continue to oversee these critical functions while leading a dedicated team to ensure the seamless execution of contracts and contract finance. KAIROS currently manages approximately 40 active contracts and, in 2024 alone, submitted around 25 proposals—all requiring detailed Pricing and Contracts Volumes. With a workforce of 108 employees, our contracts team supports essential functions such as contract setup, timesheet and charging assistance, and travel coordination.
