We had some powerful conversations with fellow innovators, VCs, and ideal customers. The momentum is real and the vision is clear. Big shoutout to Francis Fomenky Jr., our Chief of Customer Success, for absolutely owning the booth and repping LunchTable like a pro!     Building a startup isn’t just about raising capital 💰—it’s about resilience 💪🏾, reinvention 🔄, and relentless commitment 🔥 to the people who believe in you. This week, I had the privilege of speaking with the founders in the Venture Velocity Program, led by Cintrifuse Capital, one of our incredible investors. This was my second time sharing my journey with their cohort, and each time, I walk away inspired by the energy and resilience of those building the next wave of great companies. In my conversation, I took them through my path—starting LunchTable, becoming a husband, becoming a father 👨👩👧👦, bootstrapping, pivoting (more than once), and raising my pre-seed and eventually a $2.4M seed round. But beyond the milestones, I wanted to focus on the real lessons. ✅ Surround yourself with the right people. I've been blessed to have incredible mentors, advisors, and investors who not only believe in me but also challenge me to be better every day. Their wisdom has been invaluable, and I put it to use every single day. ✅ Stay true to yourself. Founders often battle imposter syndrome 😰, feeling like they have to be someone they're not to win over investors. But the truth is—the right investors will invest in YOU. If they don’t accept you for who you are, they’re not the right fit. My Uncle Riley once told me, "Never compromise your position for nobody." That lesson has never failed me. ✅ Taking care of your people is everything. I’ll never forget the moment Hardik Desai at JumpStart Ventures, another one of our incredible investors (see what I did there 😉) asked me, "Josh, what keeps you up at night?" My answer? Taking care of my people. My team believes in me and follows my vision into the unknown. The least I can do is make sure I never let them down. ✅ Seek counsel, not opinions. 🙌 Everyone will have an opinion about your journey, but not all opinions are worth listening to. I’ve learned to surround myself with people who have done what I aspire to do and lean on their counsel 🎓, not just anyone’s thoughts. While I’ve come a long way, I’m still figuring it out. I don’t have all the answers, but I know this: I will always show up for my team, my investors, and my family. A huge THANK YOU 🙏🏾 to Mark Wood for the invitation, Cintrifuse Capital for always supporting me, and Ziyaada Abdulfatai from JPMorganChase for attending, and for being #FounderFirst.
