Obesity is a medical condition, not a result of poor willpower. Recognizing it as a chronic disease shifts the focus away from stigma and blame, allowing for more effective treatment strategies aimed at improving overall health. But how do we effectively treat obesity? At Calibrate, we understand that there is no single "cure." Instead, a comprehensive approach is required—one that includes medication access, personalized coaching, education, and lifestyle interventions. In this blog post, we dive into the details of how this approach works for your people and what it means for overall wellbeing and the bottomline. We hope you'll give it a read! https://lnkd.in/g443KM_F

An insightful article by @milliman highlighted the correlation between obesity and employee retention. A claims-based analysis of self-insured employer health plans revealed that employees diagnosed with obesity exhibit notably higher retention rates compared to their non-obese counterparts. The statistics speak volumes: 40% retention versus 26% at 5 years, and 30% retention versus 14% at 10 years, presenting compelling insights. This data underscores the significance for self-insured employers to consider investing in an obesity care strategy, as it can positively impact employee retention, consequently enhancing the overall financial performance. Employers can feel more confident in the long-term value of addressing obesity within their workforce. I'm proud of what Calibrate has achieved thus far in partnering with leading employers to change the way the world treats weight.  Commendations to @melaniekuester, @jessicanaber, and @lukaszchmura for their valuable analysis.
