Chanukah celebrations continued in all areas of the J this week! Afterschool care (ASC) ate latkes and made Chanukah cards, early childhood education (ECE) displayed student-created "stained glass" dreidels around the building and participated in a L'Dor V'Dor (generation to generation) Chanukah event with Jewish Family Services, members enjoyed Beth Grimm's Chanukah cookies at a member appreciation gathering, and a team of Chanukah helpers distributed Chanukah treats to staff! 🕎 💙 💛

What do you do when you have 3 long-standing and underutilized racquetball courts? You renovate two of them! For my community center, JCC Indy, it addresses the need for additional space for dynamic functional fitness programming for the community, as well as a space to serve unique populations such as those with Parkinson’s and other chronic diseases. The Marcia and Bruce Sklare JFIT Studio is coming soon!

There’s nothing like the energy of the JCC in the summertime, especially this year when we were thrilled to announce and are eagerly anticipating the arrival of our new CEO, Sam Dubrinsky, and her family (one month to go until Sam starts!). Springtime is for Earth Day at the J, autumn for the Ann Katz Festival of Books & Arts, and winter for New Year’s resolutions, but summertime is the season of briyut (health of mind, body and spirit), and the JCC is the best place in Indianapolis for people to improve their wellness—physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.
