We are delighted to have just completed a very productive and energising plenary meeting in Manchester! During the meeting, partners in the ImAFUSA project came together to discuss ongoing work, aligning on research concerning the development environmental and socio-economic impact indicators with regard to Urban Air Mobility (UAM). The project is entering the final stretch to incorporate these indicators into tools and simulations that will assist policymakers and stakeholders in understanding how to ensure UAM technologies can be adopted while maximising social acceptance and benefit. A huge thank you to partner The University of Salford for the exceptional organisation and hosting, and to our entire consortium for their hard work and contributions: Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa & BRU- Iscte | Future Needs | KTH Royal Institute of Technology | Delft University of Technology | ICCS - NTUA | Municipality of Egaleo | AgentFly Technologies Looking forward to the developments to come! #UAM #Innovation

ImAFUSA studies the societal acceptance of 🚁 Urban Air Mobility (#UAM) in 🏙️ urban, peri-urban, and inter-urban areas.
About us
This SESAR 3JU project aims to deliver an “Impact and capacity Assessment Framework for U-space Societal Acceptance” (ImAFUSA) to assist Local Authorities and other U-space stakeholders and users with the delivery of socially acceptable and beneficial UAM deployment in cities. The framework and its tools will collect insights influencing societal acceptance of UAM and produce indicators for the environmental, socioeconomic, and safety impact. During the project, data on citizen noise perceptions, perceptions of visual pollution, safety perceptions, and overall UAM acceptance will be collected during 3 immersive citizen experiences of UAM applications in the city of Athens, Greece. In each area, innovative performance indicators will be described while mathematical formulas and algorithms will be developed to quantify them. It is a project funded under SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking and Horizon. It kicked off on October 2023 and will run for 30 months by a consortium of 8 partners from 7 countries (🇵🇹 Portugal 🇬🇷Greece 🇸🇪 Sweden 🇨🇾 Cyprus 🇨🇿 Czechia 🇳🇱 Netherlands 🇬🇧 UK). The project coordinator is ISCTE- Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Iscte) in Portugal. 🧩 Project partners are: ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa | Future Needs Management Consulting Ltd | KTH Royal Institute of Technology | The University of Salford | TU Delft | ICCS - NTUA | Municipality of Egaleo | AgentFly Technologies. The posts reflect the view of the project partners. The account is managed by the dissemination partner Future Needs Management Consulting Ltd. How do people feel about drones and air taxis in our cities? 🚁 Sophia Kalakou from Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa — coordinator and researcher of the ImAFUSA project—shares how the team is tackling a crucial challenge: understanding public perceptions of urban air mobility (UAM). ImAFUSA, supported by SESAR Joint Undertaking, is developing an impact assessment framework to help local authorities and stakeholders evaluate how citizens view these technologies. Key innovations include new tools to understand the public acceptance and willingness to pay for urban air mobility (UAM). 📊 By creating new indicators and databases that capture public attitudes, ImAFUSA is filling a critical knowledge gap. 🎥 Watch the video & tell us in the comments: What do you think the biggest hurdles are to urban air mobility gaining widespread public acceptance? Video produced by Future Needs, Dissemination Leader for the ImAFUSA project.
