Tomorrow, 12th of April, SmartVitiNet project will be presented in the Women in Business and Beyond Conference by the dissemination manager Future Needs! During the practical workshop, Future Needs will share funding opportunities in the agriculture, healthcare, and STEM sectors, where women are often time under-represented. The aim is to help more women access the financial resources to drive impact in research and innovation. We are honoured to be featured in such a great initiative!

The SmartVitiNet project is laying the groundwork for a new era in European viticulture through its Competence Centre for Precision Viticulture. By the integration of advanced tools for monitoring water stress, reducing pesticide reliance, and improving overall vineyard sustainability, the Competence Centre aims to equip producers with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive both economically and environmentally in this fastly evolved sector. We’re proud to announce that a research paper authored by the Project Coordinator Maritina Stavrakaki from Agricultural University of Athens and our Greek pilot leader Theo Kontogiannis from Agroecology Lab has been accepted for presentation at the World Congress of Vine and Wine. The paper focuses on the growing impact of drone technology in agriculture, and its transformative role in precision viticulture. Do you know that wine isn’t just red and white? there’s an entire spectrum of colors, each colour reflects the grape skins, fermentation, and tradition of the making! The deep hues come from grape skins soaking in the juice during fermentation, this is what makes red wine it’s beautiful red colour. The longer the contact, the richer the color and tannins!🔴 ⚪ White wine gets its colour by pressing grapes and removing the skins immediately. This process gives a fresh and light taste! 🌸 Rosé is not a mix of red and white! Instead, it’s made by letting red grape skins stay in contact with the juice for a short time, just enough to give it that iconic pink hue!
