IDEXX reposted this
It’s rare to be part of something that has the potential to dramatically improve the lives of thousands of pets. If we’re lucky, it may happen once or twice in a career. I have been fortunate to be a part of several such innovations at IDEXX – but I believe this one has the potential to be particularly historic. It is with tremendous pride and gratitude to the IDEXX team and their achievement that today I share with you the news that we’ve launched IDEXX Cancer Dx™ through our reference laboratories in North America. This first-of-its-kind diagnostic panel for early detection of canine lymphoma brings exceptional levels of performance (79% sensitivity, 99% specificity), turnaround time in as few as 2 to 3 days, and is priced for our veterinarian partners in a way that is intended to support broad inclusion and access to pet owners. This is the culmination of years of scientific exploration, teamwork, and novel approaches to the field of cancer research and diagnostics. The earlier we can detect cancer and determine its type, the better the chance for targeted treatments and improved outcomes, such as additional quality months or years of life. For many of us, cancer is personal. Our family dog, Blake, died too soon last year from lung cancer. We know too well how hard it is to detect and treat at later stages. IDEXX does not plan to stop with canine lymphoma. Instead, over the next 36 months, we plan to launch a panel that will cover a majority (>50%) of canine cancer cases. My gratitude goes out to all veterinary practices worldwide who work passionately every day to advance the standard of care for the animals we love. We couldn’t be prouder to partner with you on this endeavor. idexx.com/cancerdx

💡 We asked Janelle Keane, a Regulatory Specialist in the US: Why did you join IDEXX and what keeps you engaged with your work? "I joined IDEXX in 2017 as I wanted to make a positive impact on IDEXX’s mission on enhancing the health and well-being of pets, people, and livestock. Having 12 goats and 2 kitties, it is a purpose near and dear to me. What I found within IDEXX is the greatest group of people I have ever worked with, especially the members of my team, and a company that values the work-life balance. Some of the great perks at IDEXX are on-site medical care, on-site gym, and 3 dining venues!

💡 We asked Kathryn Grimball, a Sales Manager for our Water division in the US: Why did you join IDEXX? "I joined IDEXX for the opportunity to make a difference in the water space market. IDEXX allows our customers to meet their needs by improving an already great product offering – IDEXX is improving the ability to test and monitor microbiological presence in water across the water field from source water to waste water to drinking water. Where there is water and a microbiological need, you will find IDEXX there!"

💡 We asked Karine Gjelstad, a Field Support Representative in Norway: Why did you join IDEXX, and what keeps you engaged with your work after 12 years with the company? "I’m a veterinary nurse and was responsible for the lab in the hospital I used to work for, when I was contacted by a recruiter regarding this position. I already loved working with our IDEXX analyzers and felt it would be a great opportunity to try out a very different way of working, while being able to learn more about laboratory diagnostics and the IDEXX products and services, which was, and still is, one of my biggest fields of interest." "IDEXX delivers such high-quality products and services all over the world, and is such an important part of veterinary diagnostics. Working for a company whose products and tests help pets globally live longer and better lives, makes me really happy. IDEXX is continuously developing new tests and products, and I know I will always grow and develop my knowledge working for this company. My day-to-day work life is never boring/no day is the same; I love training customers and helping them get the most out of our products. Seeing happy customers and working with such a great team is what keeps me engaged."

💡 We asked Nicole Kraipowich, an Anatomic Pathologist in the U.S.: Why did you join IDEXX, and what keeps you engaged with your work? "I joined IDEXX as an Anatomic Veterinary Pathologist because I thought they were the best diagnostic lab that I could be a part of. Previously I had worked here as a contractor for a short time so it was just a good fit." "The work that I do is a mixture of interesting and challenging cases. We have so many excellent pathologists that I learn from every day. I really appreciate the management and colleagues that I work with. I work from home and have been well supported with IT. We have a great scanning software for histology slides, so it has been wonderful for a remote work space. I also get to travel to the histology labs once in a while and I really enjoy connecting with the personnel there. They are so diverse and are eager to learn. I really appreciate the time to interact with them."
