The Trump Administration is targeting legal firms, including those that fight for the rights of LGBTQ+ Americans. The ability to obtain legal representation is vital to our democracy — no matter your financial situation or status, and we’re proud to join our partners in this fight.
On April 9, 2025, Kaiser PLLC filed an amicus brief on behalf of 23 nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in Perkins Coie LLP v. U.S. Department of Justice, et al., pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (Case No. 1:25-cv-00716), which challenges the Executive Order directed at Perkins Coie. “The Executive Order takes aim not just at a particular law firm (or, now via follow-on Executive Orders, several law firms) but at any organization that would deign to criticize our country’s leaders. That is unwise, and dangerous. NGOs are particularly harmed, both in limiting the counsel available to them and in being chilled from their core missions, which often involve advocacy designed to challenge our leaders’ polices. We’re proud to represent these NGOs in standing up for our freedoms of speech and association.” To read the brief and learn more, click here: https://lnkd.in/g_TBmHAq

We’re proud to introduce the Guardians of Truth Awards, recognizing journalists who advocate for our LGBTQ+ community with courage, integrity, and impact. In The Advocate's exclusive, HRC President Kelley Robinson shares why this moment, and these truth-tellers, matter. “These awards recognize journalists who have shown both fierce commitment to telling the truth and representing the LGBTQ+ community with authenticity. Their work is a testament to the power of journalism in advancing social justice and equality.” Meet our inaugural honorees and what's ahead: https://lnkd.in/eiQXVYKw
Say hello to The Guardians of Truth Awards! This is a new honor celebrating voices who lead with courage, speak truth to power, and show up unapologetically at a time when LGBTQ+ lives and our freedom of the press are under attack. Our inaugural honorees are trailblazing journalists who show up for our community in powerful ways and raise the bar. Let’s celebrate: Jonathan Capehart, Ina Fried, and Nico Lang. Because the truth deserves fearless champions, and our stories carry power.

ICYMI: The State of Maine is suing the Trump administration for punishing Maine’s public schools for refusing to comply with Trump’s discriminatory order to ban trans youth from playing school sports. Donald Trump is willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of hungry children to force states to implement his Project 2025 agenda. We urge the court to stop this overreach and ensure ALL students can learn the lessons & skills to live happy, healthy, and successful lives. Thank you, Governor Janet Mills, for your courageous leadership and showing up for our community. https://lnkd.in/dzysA4AF

Across this country, over 1,000 rallies, marches, and protests rose as ONE. From New York to St. Louis, San Francisco to small towns, we showed up with a clear message: HANDS OFF! Hands off our bodies, our families, and our freedom. And we’re not letting up—we’re just getting started. Join the movement: hrc.im/InYourArea

Trump’s HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is making a reckless decision and endangering the lives of our community by cutting critical research and staff for HIV prevention and monitoring. Here’s what we know so far. Add your name to take immediate action with us: hrc.im/ProtectHealth

Human Rights Campaign reposted this
I grew up in the reproductive rights movement. And today (at 9 months pregnant!!), I was PROUD to join our partners in front of the Supreme Court and send a clear message: Protect Medicaid patients. Protect Planned Parenthood. My ability to build a family of my dreams is only possible because of organizations like Planned Parenthood Federation of America. And we know the right-wing extremists targeting our health care are the same ones who want to ban our books, attack our marriages, and force trans people back into the closet. As my friend and mentor, Cecile Richards, used to say: “It’s not hard to imagine future generations one day asking, ‘When there was so much at stake for our country, what did you do?’ The only acceptable answer is, ‘Everything we could.’” #ImForPP

“You can file as many bills as you want, but you cannot legislate us out of society.” A record number of LGBTQ+ Texans and our allies showed up to the statehouse to demand equality for all and build joy for our community. Now it’s your turn. Show up for equality in your state: hrc.im/HandsOff Shoutout to our All In for Equality partners: Equality Texas, ACLU of Texas, Lambda Legal, and Texas Freedom Network.

BREAKING: In response to our lawsuit with Lambda Legal, a federal district court has BLOCKED Donald Trump’s cruel ban on trans servicemembers from going into effect. The court’s action confirms what we already knew: Banning servicemembers solely because they are trans is not only unconstitutional, but undermines our national security. We are proud to support our trans servicemembers, and we will keep fighting for them in the Courts.

BREAKING: President Trump has signed an executive order attempting to abolish the Department of Education, an unconstitutional violation of the separation of powers. This isn’t about “returning control to the states” — it’s about imposing his hateful Project 2025 agenda on every classroom in this country. Donald Trump does NOT have the authority to wipe away students’ opportunities to learn with the stroke of a pen. Join us in fighting back: hrc.im/equalityhub
