  • Congratulations to Mayor Mike Spano for an excellent State of the City address last week! We were honored to be included as one of the great features of the City of Yonkers. During the address, Mayor Spano spoke about how we have attracted visitors from over 43 US states and that we have been named #BestofWestchester for 7 years in a row! He also highlighted the important restoration of #HRMGlenview: “Hudson River Museum’s Glenview, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, even serves as the backdrop for the award-winning television series ‘The Gilded Age.’ There, the Museum and the City are embarking on capital improvements that will restore the building’s exterior. This will not only preserve that historic structure, but protect the significant art collection that is within.” Thank you to Mayor Spano for all you do for the City of Yonkers and the Hudson River Museum! • Who’s excited to watch the season finale of #Severance? Let us put it monosyllabically like Mr. Milchik: We can't wait! 🐐 After the finale airs, you can still channel your inner Severed Lumon employee by visiting the show’s filming locations. A recent article from People.com featured a handy list of spots where Severance was filmed, including the HRM! Although the Perpetuity Wing in the show may be deep underground, in real life, you can visit and take a guided tour of the building that was featured as Kier’s replica home! The building is actually #HRMGlenview, a real Gilded Age historic home on the National Register of Historic Places. Museum hours: Wednesday–Friday, 12–5pm, Saturday & Sunday, 11am–5pm Read about all the filming locations at hrm.org/currents Westchester County Tourism & Film #Severance #AppleTV #AppleTVPlus #SeveranceAppleTV #SeverenceFinale #PeopleMagazine #PerpetuityWing

  • Hot of the press! Check out this wonderful article in Hudson Valley Magazine on the HRM and our fearless leader, Director and CEO Masha Turchinsky. Executive editor Michelle Gillan Larkin dives into Masha’s life growing up in Yonkers, being inspired by the #HudsonRiver, and her vision for the future of the HRM. She is shown here with #Yonkers own Mayor Mike Spano in #HRMHipHopHeroes. The article opens: “Arguably one of Westchester’s best kept secrets for much of its 100-year history, the Hudson River Museum is a hidden gem no more—and that’s due, in large part, to the big picture vision of Masha Turchinsky.” Read the full article at https://lnkd.in/eFj7G_F8 or click the #linkinbio #HudsonValleyMagazine #HVMag #HudsonValley #Yonkers #Westchester #NewYork #HudsonRiverMuseum #HudsonRiver #Feature City of Yonkers

  • On March 14, the White House issued an Executive Order directing further cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the government agency that efficiently provides CRITICAL funding to museums and libraries in all 50 states. The HRM is a proud recipient of an Institute of Museum and Library Services matching grant to support the digitization of approximately 8,000 collection objects largely consisting of historical photographs representative of the Museum’s local and regional artists and communities. This work, which informs scholarship and shares our collection with a wide audience, would not be possible without this impactful grant. Please email AND call your members of Congress today to ask them to speak up to the Administration about the importance of IMLS. It is very important that you include your personal story about the impact museums have had on you and your family. Take action and urge Congress to save IMLS: congressweb.com/aam/95/ Your voice matters to ensure that IMLS can continue to provide essential funding and guidance for the vast collections of museums across America, including the Hudson River Museum. #IMLS #MuseumAdvocacy #AmericanAllianceofMuseums #SaveIMLS #HudsonRiverMuseum #Yonkers #Westchester

  • “Bill Viola: Moving Stillness” opens this Friday, March 22! Experience this monumental video installation by #BillViola, who was renowned for creating immersive environments that delve into profound themes of death, rebirth, fragility, and strength. Set against the backdrop of #MountRainier, an active volcano in Washington State, Viola’s work captures the dual nature of this majestic landscape—its serene beauty juxtaposed with the latent power for sudden, violent change. Shown in a darkened room, the installation features a calm pool of water reflecting a projected video of the mountain, accompanied by an immersive soundscape.
