Protecting the safety net for families facing instability was a key topic at Housing Families' Annual Legislative Breakfast this morning. At Women's Money Matters, we understand how financial empowerment is essential for women facing difficult circumstances. The challenges—unstable living situations, domestic violence, and economic barriers—are the same ones we help women navigate in our programs. It was an honor to connect with Judie VanKooiman, Founder of Those Who Can, For Those In Need Inc., and Laura Rosi, Esq., CEO at Housing Families. Meeting others doing meaningful work is always inspiring. One of the most powerful moments was hearing Berthide Elveus, a Family Advocate Speaker, share her personal journey through homelessness. Her story highlights why financial education and support systems are crucial for long-term stability. Housing Families stands with Immigrants! Katie Charcalis, MSW, MPH, from our Advocacy Team and Board Member Liliana Patino M.Ed., attended the MIRA Coalition’s 29th Annual Immigrants Day at the State House. We joined hundreds of advocates to stand in support of immigrant rights and hear from legislators, community leaders, and community members about why and how we need to strengthen state-level protections for immigrants across the Commonwealth.
