  • Last Saturday, Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) joined St. James' Settlement (SJS) for the St. James' Settlement Flag Day 2025. Through HKTE’s Talent+Volunteer Programme, talent in Hong Kong are able to take part in the volunteer services, strengthening their connection with the local community while contributing to society. The Programme also helps incoming talent integrate into life in Hong Kong by participating in impactful and community-focused activities. The day was meaningful as talent connected with the public to promote the important causes championed by SJS. Joining the event was Karl, a talent from Germany, and his family, who believed they have all learned how important charity initiative like the Flag Day was, and it enabled his son to improve his communication skills. “It was a great pleasure for us as a family to participate in the event,” he shared, “it was great to engage with the locals to support this very valuable cause.” Tony, a volunteer from the Mainland, shared similar excitements. Participating with his family, Tony said, “this was a great opportunity for both parents and children to practise our social skills. We were nervous at first, but soon gained confidence, and we also felt the warmth from the community. We are interested in taking part in future volunteer events like this.” HKTE remains committed to helping talent deepen their understanding of the local community and build meaningful connections through volunteer services.   • To support the Hong Kong SAR government's commitment to combating rising fraud, Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) hosted a seminar today titled “Living Tips: Fraud Prevention, Smart Renting and Integrity Culture”, where incoming talent learned about scam prevention, fraud awareness, and the city’s strong anti-corruption values. Representatives from the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF),  the Estate Agents Authority (EAA) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) led the event. They highlighted common fraud cases in Hong Kong, shared real-life examples and offered actionable tips for prevention. Participants also learnt how to respond effectively if they fall victim to fraudulent activities. Protecting Yourself from Scams and Fraud Mr Taylor Lai, Inspector of Police from the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre, Commercial Crime Bureau, HKPF, explained the most common types of fraud in Hong Kong, including phone scams, fake investment schemes, and fraudulent e-commerce platforms. He also shared practical advice on staying vigilant and handling incidents if they occur. Tenancy Guide for New-arrivals in Hong Kong Mr Chan U-keng, Director of Operations from the EAA, delivered a detailed presentation on avoiding fraud in Hong Kong’s property market. He walked participants through proper rental procedures and emphasised the importance of signing clear agreements with estate agents and landlords to protect their rights. Understanding Integrity in Hong Kong in Seconds Ms Alice Choi, Senior Community Relations Officer from the ICAC, introduced Hong Kong’s renowned anti-corruption culture. She clarified common misconceptions about corruption cases and encouraged participants to download the ICAC mobile app, which provides useful information for both locals and newcomers to stay informed and avoid unethical situations.   • Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) was proud to serve as the strategic partner for the "Innovating Hong Kong - Global Talent Carnival 2025 (Spring)", a two-day event that combined a job fair and forums, aimed at directly connecting job-seeking talent with employers, and assisting them in pursuing development in Hong Kong. Held at the AsiaWorld-Expo, the event featured nearly 400 companies and provided close to 20,000 job opportunities to over 20,000 visitors, catering to a wide range of sectors including education, finance, internet, technology, and telecommunications. In his opening remarks, Mr Chris Sun, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, reaffirmed the Hong Kong government's commitment to both attracting global talent to pursue development in Hong Kong, and providing comprehensive support services to help them start their new chapter in the city. HKTE also established a "Hong Kong Talent Engage: Connect & Share" station at the fair, partnering with leading recruitment agencies to share insights into Hong Kong's job market, and provide interview tips to participants. Additionally, Mr Anthony Lau, Director of HKTE, attended the "1st Hong Kong PhD Festival," where he connected with young scholars and PhD holders to promote HKTE's one-stop support services. HKTE will continue to collaborate with industry partners and different stakeholders to co-organise more job fairs.   • Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) successfully co-hosted the online seminar, "Sharing on Top Talent Pass Scheme Visa Renewal", with the Hong Kong Immigration Department and Talent Hub today, providing incoming talent with an overview and practical advice on visa renewal procedures. The seminar attracted an enthusiastic response, with nearly 30,000 viewers joining the live broadcast. During the event, representatives from the Hong Kong Immigration Department delivered an in-depth presentation on the Top Talent Pass Scheme, a programme designed to attract global talent to settle in Hong Kong. The presentation was followed by an engaging Q&A session, featuring Immigration Department delegates and Ms Anna Au, Deputy Director of HKTE, who highlighted HKTE's comprehensive one-stop support services available to help incoming talent transition smoothly. "Sharing on Top Talent Pass Scheme Visa Renewal" Mr Michael Lee, Assistant Principal Immigration Officer (Visa Control) C and Ms Yvonne Ho, Chief Immigration Officer (Certificate of Entitlement) from the Immigration Department, shared real-life cases on visa renewal criteria, employment, business requirements, and application procedures. They also addressed common challenges such as income below market benchmark or limited time in Hong Kong, providing valuable insights into meeting renewal requirements and overcoming hurdles.
