Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) brings “Hong Kong: A World of Opportunities” to Singapore and Bali, continuing its talent engagement after the recent visit to Kuala Lumpur. Led by Mr Anthony Lau, Director of HKTE, the delegation began its journey in Singapore on 14 April, visiting the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University Singapore. During his keynote speeches, Mr Lau introduced Hong Kong’s talent attraction initiatives along with the city’s dynamic business landscape and abundant career opportunities to university students, alumni, and young professionals. Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) recently hosted a seminar, “Business Setup: Guide to Hong Kong Startup Practical Strategy and Legal Compliance”, offering aspiring talent and entrepreneurs tips and advice on Hong Kong’s competitive edge for businesses and startups. The event was led by two experts from The Hong Kong Talent & Entrepreneurs Association, who shared insights on Hong Kong’s business landscape, policies favourable to entrepreneurs, and compliance strategies for Mainland businesses operating in Hong Kong. “Practical Implementation Guide for Business Setup in Hong Kong” Ms Sarah Li, Founding Partner of EG Asset Limited, provided an in-depth analysis of Hong Kong’s core competitive strengths for entrepreneurs. Drawing on her own entrepreneurial experience, she shared highly practical insights and actionable advice. Her session also included real-world case studies of successful Mainland enterprises establishing themselves in Hong Kong, offering participants valuable strategies to build confidence and effectively expand their businesses in the region. “Legal Decoding – Compliance Management for Startups” Mr Paul Wang, Partner at Haldanes, delivered a comprehensive overview of Hong Kong’s common law concept and investigative procedures. The Greater Bay Area (GBA) Talent Development Showcase Career Fair has successfully concluded, marking a significant milestone in fostering international talent exchange. This success was made possible through the support of 40 leading enterprises from the GBA, representing key industries such as I&T, engineering, finance, accounting, legal services, insurance, and real estate. Panel Discussion 1: “9+2 Cities – Synergies for Growth in the GBA” The discussion featured Mr Clement Woo, MH, JP, Under Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, HKSAR Government; Mr Stephen Chan, Deputy Chief Executive of the Bank of China (Hong Kong); and Mr C. M. Chan, Immediate Past President of The Law Society of Hong Kong. The session was moderated by Mr Terrance Lok, CEO of TalentsLab. This session explored how deeper collaboration among the “9+2” cities in GBA can unlock new opportunities for business, innovation, and talent mobility. Panelists addressed cross-border policy alignment, sectoral growth, and Hong Kong’s role as a facilitator of regional development. The Labour and Welfare Bureau and Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE) successfully concluded “The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Talent Development Showcase” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this weekend (12-13 April). This showcase, which attracted a combined attendance of over 4000, aimed to implement the strategy of joining hands to attract international high-calibre talent under the Memorandum of Understanding on promoting talent services co-operation in the GBA, signed last year by nine municipalities in Guangdong Province, as well as the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. The two-day event featured two main components: a Symposium and a Career Fair. The Symposium included leading industry experts discussing the GBA's latest developments and opportunities, with Mr Daniel Chan, Executive Vice President and Head of GBA, HSBC, delivering the keynote speech, and Dr William Chao, Secretary-General of the Macau SAR Government's Talent Development Committee, providing insights into the opportunities in Macau. Delivering his opening remarks at the Symposium, Mr Chris Sun, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, said that Hong Kong is uniquely positioned in the GBA area to serve dual roles as Mainland China's gateway to Southeast Asia and as Malaysia's springboard to the vast opportunities in Mainland China's domestic markets. Mr Anthony Lau, Director of HKTE, shared that with Mainland China’s “one country, two systems” principle, Hong Kong serves as an economic powerhouse, providing a stable and predictable environment for businesses. Mr Lau also highlighted Hong Kong's diverse advantages and Talent Admission Schemes to talent. The Career Fair featured nearly 40 leading GBA enterprises, including HSBC Hong Kong, Bank of China (Hong Kong), and Huawei, from industries such as I&T, engineering, finance, accounting, legal services, insurance, and real estate. It offered 17 insightful sessions led by industry experts and leaders of prominent companies. Talent not only had the opportunity to explore the GBA’s diverse job market but also engaged directly with representatives from these leading companies, providing a wide range of career options and opportunities for professional growth.
