Investor interest has been picking up in Asia Pacific’s nascent multi-family market. Within the region, Japan’s for-rent residential sector is uniquely well developed while other markets such as South Korea have started to rise up the curve. The living sector in Japan is one of Hines’ key priorities in Asia Pacific, and we have aggregated a portfolio of 23 assets and over 1,100 units across Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka and Fukuoka. Throughout this process, our team has undertaken initiatives such as selective renovations, sustainability improvements and tenant engagement. “We believe it is crucial to stay in tune with how residents are experiencing our properties and to cater to the needs of different groups of residents,” says Managing Director and Japan Country Co-Head Saiko Ishii. In a new report, Hines Research explains the growth outlook for the living sector in Japan and other Asia Pacific markets: https://bit.ly/4kBzBGt #Living #RealEstate #InvestmentManagement

Over the period for which we have data, our analysis found that U.S. home prices have never been more unaffordable. Conversely, on a relative basis, renting has never been more attractive vs. buying. The lack of housing in the U.S. is a story well-told and understood, but the reality is that we are facing a truly global housing shortage. • "We are seeing a convergence of real estate and infrastructure, and a blurring of the lines between asset classes. For example, a grocery store can function as urban logistics as well as retail. This is a trend that will impact investment strategies.”
