One of the Southeast’s leading integrated material handling solutions providers, Carolina Handling donated $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Greenville today and pledged to do a build day this October. “Serving each other, our customers and our community has been an intentional part of our day and an integral part of the Carolina Handling culture since our founding in 1966,” said Brent Hillabrand, Carolina Handling’s President and CEO. “We believe in giving back in meaningful ways, and we demonstrate that by looking for opportunities to work alongside those in need and those who work every day to assist them. We look forward to our partnership with Habitat for Humanity as we focus our philanthropic efforts on fighting homelessness through affordable housing.” LaTonya Phillips, Habitat Greenville’s CEO and President, said corporate donations such as the one from Carolina Handling help create a stronger community. #habitatforhumanity #habitatgvl #affordablehousing #yeahthatgreenville #youcangreenville #greenvillesc #habitatgreenville #volunteering #carolinahandling

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
About us
Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build hope, communities, homes and a promising future for low-income families. Habitat Greenville relies on the support of Greenville County corporations, churches, organizations and volunteers to fulfill our mission towards breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Lack of affordable housing forces low-income families to live in substandard rental conditions, usually in unsafe neighborhoods. Habitat applicants are living below the standard poverty level and earn 30-60% of the area median income. These families often pay a large percentage towards rent and energy costs for substandard housing; leaving little money for food, health care, transportation and education. Habitat homes are built energy-efficient and Habitat homeowners pay a 0% mortgage held in-house by Habitat. This enables our families to build equity and change their financial trajectory. In turn, families are more secure and neighborhoods and communities are strengthened and improved. Homeownership also eliminates the need for families to move from rental to rental seeking lower housing costs, resulting in educational stability for children. According to a study by Harvard University, children raised in homes owned by their families are 116% more likely to pursue post-high school education! Habitat applicants must be employed for at least one year, complete an educational program provided at no cost to prepare for homeownership including courses such as budgeting, home maintenance, being a good neighbor and more. A minimum of 200 "sweat equity" hours must be completed; including work on their home, other Habitat homes and volunteering at non-profit organizations. We believe that every person has something to contribute and gain from creating communities in which all people have a safe, decent and affordable place to live. Habitat provides an opportunity to serve others by bringing people together to truly make a difference families' lives.

We know that #HomeIsTheKey to connection, well-being, and stability—but too many families in South Carolina are locked out of affordable homeownership. Ongoing inequality in the U.S. housing market has widened homeownership disparities since the Fair Housing Act was passed #OTD in 1968. At Habitat Greenville, we are committed to programs advancing innovative solutions to open more doors to affordable homeownership. #HomeIsTheKey#habitatgvl #habitatgreenville

Wonderful story on our Credit Union Build in the Greenville Journal .

A wall raising for a Habitat for Humanity signals the start of construction on a new house. But it is more than a house. It is a home. It is a fresh start for a family. It signifies a lasting, beneficial change for that family. On Wednesday, April 9, members of the Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County team joined with staff and leadership of 10 local credit unions to raise a wall (and a family) up in the Nicholtown community of Greenville. This is the latest house started by Habitat Greenville in the heart of this historic community. When finished, it will welcome the 15th Habitat family into a neighborhood where everyone now owns their own home. Wednesday’s wall raising, though, was more than ceremonial. The staff from Carolina Foothills Credit Federal Credit Union, Vizo Financial Corporate Credit Union, Spero Financial, MTC Federal Credit Union, South Carolina Federal Credit Union, CPM Federal Credit Union, Truliant Federal Credit Union, Sharonview Federal Credit Union, Carolina Credit Union League and Greenville Federal Credit Union framed the walls of the house throughout the morning. #habitatforhumanity #creditunionbuild #habitatgvl #habitatgreenville
