Excited to share that GridWrap, Inc. sponsored a team of SDSU College of Engineering students at the 2025 EERI Student Leadership Council (SLC) Seismic Design Competition, where university teams from around the world designed and tested 5-foot-tall structures for earthquake resilience at the University of California, Berkeley. Jose Maldonado, Aiden Mangohig, Sid Weddington, Reah Mae Sahagun, Alex Eraso and Carlos Navea, EIT placed 6th in Analysis Prediction, demonstrating impressive skills in structural testing and analysis — a field close to home for us. GridWrap, Inc. engineers use the same lab to test our grid hardening solutions, so it’s especially rewarding to see our local talent excel in this critical area. Congratulations SDSU team and keep it up! We are inspired by the next generation of engineers applying their superpowers to advancing resilience in the built environment. #Engineering #Resilience #SeismicDesign #GridHardening #STEM

It may seem incredible, but Grid Wrap can FIX this pole. Not merely plug the hopes but repair the pole to the extent it will operate fully functionally for many years! Come to think of it, that IS incredible!
🛑 “I have all the time and money I need to recover from this storm season and prepare for the next one.” — Said no utility company ever. From our conversations with #TechAdvantage attendees such as the NRECA, one theme was loud and clear: #ElectricCooperatives are in a race against time. Thousands of aging poles are being battered by storms, weakened by rot, and destroyed by pests like woodpeckers and carpenter ants. The challenge? Finding fast, cost-effective solutions to reinforce infrastructure before the next disaster strikes. The grid won’t wait—so neither can we. That’s where GridWrap comes in. We offer a range of storm and fire-proof products that can help, including DEMIRWRAP®, a rapid-repair system that provides localized reinforcement in under 15 minutes and BULLWRAP® which triples pole strength, extends life by 30 years, and costs 90% less than replacement. How is your team tackling this challenge? #GridResilience #StormRecovery #TechAdvantage #GridWrap #GridHardening

The use of a composites in in building resilience 🦾 in power grid infrastructure is a no-brainer! We agree with Davoud Zamani quote "We're already using composite in aerospace 🚀 , why can't we apply it to utility poles 🪵 to increase grid resilience?" The industry is making extensive use of composite in wind generation, along side a long history of use of laminate composite solutions used in outdoor environments in marine, farming and lighting outdoors infrastructure. Structural composites are already being used in utility poles, cross arms and in repair work. We need to standardise, build capacity and deploy in greater numbers in order to close the economic cost differential vs wooden pole tech. One solution to the economics challenges to consider the use o hybrid pole technology - using engineered laminates to reinforce the groundline area to: ✅ Increase the loading bearing capacity of a given pole. ✅Reduce the ingredient residual strength variation in a wooden pole population. ✅Reduce the risk of,(slow down) decay by protecting the groundline from moisture and oxygen ingress. ✅By using a FR(flame retarded) composition, protect the base of the pole from ground fire. Attending DISTRIBUTECH 2025 in Dallas proved to be an enriching experience, delving into the forefront of technologies and methodologies within the transmission and distribution utility sector. My focus on corrosion mitigation through protective coatings for utility asset structures was complemented by the intriguing offerings from GridWrap. Their Composite WiRe Wrap and Pole Wrap systems are reshaping grid infrastructure, bolstering power capacity and fortifying utility poles seamlessly. Reconnecting with Davoud and his wife, alongside forging new connections and reigniting past relationships, added a personal touch to the vast event. The sheer magnitude of the conference, hosting numerous attendees and featuring an expansive exhibitor hall, evoked a mix of awe and excitement, leaving me thoroughly content by day's end. Excited to integrate these newfound insights and innovations into our ongoing projects, paving the way for enhanced efficiency and sustainability.
