I had the pleasure today of helping induct three new, well-deserving honorees into our Sports Events & Tourism Association Hall of Fame at the Sports ETA 2025 Annual Symposium in Tulsa, OK. The Class of 2025 Inductees include Jon Lugbill of the Richmond Sports Backers, Linda Logan of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, and Frank Viverito of the St. Louis Sports Commission. Major congrats to the newest members of our Sports ETA HOF! We are so proud to announce the Women’s Sports Capital Ambition! Yesterday, during the State of the City address, Mayor Ginther declared an aspiration shared with First Lady Shannon Ginther that Columbus will emerge as the Nation’s Capital for Women’s Sports. The Greater Columbus Sports Commission has been a passionate advocate for women in sports since our inception in 2002, and we are thrilled to partner on this initiative. The initiative will have four focus areas:   ⚽️ Keep young girls and women in sports  🏀 Grow women’s sports fandoms, teams and events based and hosted in Columbus  🏐 Cultivate the next generation of female business and civic leaders  🏒 Drive innovation in women’s sports and investment in sports-related businesses  We are already off to a good start, being named the host of the 2027 NCAA Women’s Final Four and NCAA DI Women’s Volleyball Championship. Last month, Columbus hosted both the NHL Stadium Series and the Arnold Sports Festival during the same weekend. Generating nearly $40 million in visitor spending for the city, the events drew a crowd of nearly 200,000 people in total.
