I’m thrilled to see this year’s the keynote speakers for the 2025 GIS in Action conference!
We're excited to announce the 2025 keynote speakers! Dr. Aileen Buckley will give the opening keynote address for the 34th annual GIS in Action Conference on April 23 in Portland, Oregon. In her presentation, GIS in a Changing World, Aileen will speak to the drivers of change in GIS and the central role of the GIS user in shaping the current and future versions of GIS software and its applications. As a career cartographer and researcher of map use and best mapping practices, Aileen provides a unique, user-centric perspective of geospatial visualization, representation, and analysis. On April 24, Christopher Moravec will close out the conference with his keynote presentation, Don't Panic, It's Just AI: A Developer's Handbook. Through this presentation, Christopher will show us what AI is, what it’s good at, and when to leave it out of our toolkits. He’ll also demonstrate how to wield AI as a tool for empowerment. Christopher is an expert problem-solver and technology innovator known for his creative approaches to software engineering challenges. His accomplishments include founding a successful geospatial technology company and creating whimsical inventions like a candy-dispensing robot.
