Michael Solis, Associate Professor at UC Riverside and board member of The Reading League California, recently co-authored “Every Child Reads: Year Three Evaluation,” an award-winning evaluation report of Fulton County Schools' literacy initiative. The report, developed with colleagues from Gibson Consulting Group and Resources for Learning, LLC, earned first place in the 2025 American Educational Research Association Division H Outstanding Publications Competition for Program Evaluation. This work supported the district in strengthening and sustaining its literacy efforts—an outstanding example of research driving real-world impact. #ItTakesALeague

Gibson Consulting Group is excited to present our Teacher Time Study at the TEXAS EVALUATION NETWORK's 2025 Institute. How do teachers spend their work hours? What tasks take up the most time? How can districts better support educators to enhance retention and job satisfaction? 📢 Session Title: How Do Teachers Spend Their Time? A Study of Teacher Time Use in a Texas School District 📅 March 27, 2025 | 1:00 - 1:30 PM CT (Virtual) 🎤 Presenters: David Osman | Will Hardaway | Gleb Furman | AnnaCarolina Garza The research, conducted with Killeen ISD, analyzed data from over 2,000 teachers, using time diaries, surveys, focus groups, and interviews. Findings include: 🔹 Teachers reported an average workweek of 52 hours. 🔹 Instruction took up most contract hours (38%), but assessment, special education documentation, and meetings demanded significant additional time. 🔹 Teachers felt high efficacy and workplace cohesion, but last-minute schedule changes and non-instructional demands impacted job satisfaction. Exciting News from Gibson! 🎉 We are honored to announce that the program evaluation, Every Child Reads: Year Three Evaluation, has been awarded First Place in the 2025 AERA Division H Outstanding Publications Competition for Program Evaluation! This work supported Fulton County Schools in evaluating a comprehensive districtwide literacy initiative, and would not have been possible without the partnership and support of George Ryan Moore, Amanda Swerdlow, and many others in FCS. This recognition is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our incredible team—Stacia Long, Jayce Warner, Brian Fitzpatrick, Tori Nickerson—as well as the invaluable collaboration with Lisa V. McCulley, Judy Jennings, PhD, Kyle English at Resources for Learning, LLC, and Michael Solis at UC-Riverside. We look forward to celebrating this achievement at the American Educational Research Association conference on April 26 in Denver, CO. Exciting News from Gibson! 🎉 Our research, Teacher Time Evaluation, has been awarded First Place in the 2025 AERA Division H Outstanding Publications Competition for Applied Research Reports! This research defined and quantified the daily of activities of the teacher workforce in Killeen ISD through focus groups, surveys, and daily time diaries. It is guiding the work of the district and improving the lives of teachers and students. We're so glad to play a part in Killeen ISD's improvement efforts. The recognition is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our incredible team—Will Hardaway, Gleb Furman, AnnaCarolina Garza, and David Osman—whose hard work made this project a success.
