Tax season is no small feat, and we know how hard our CPA partners work this time of year. As a small token of appreciation, our team puts together and distributes goodie bags to help power them through busy season every year! We’re grateful for the expertise and dedication of the tax professionals we collaborate with, and we recognize the important role they play in helping clients navigate complex financial decisions. Wishing everyone a smooth and successful tax season! #TaxSeason #CPAAppreciation #WhatTrulyMatters

How long should you keep tax documents? With tax season in full swing, it’s a great time to get organized. While some tax documents can be discarded after three years, others—like investment records, property documents, or W-2s—should be kept much longer. And when it’s time to dispose of old records, secure shredding is key. Not sure what to keep and for how long? We break it all down in our latest blog. As we gear up for this year’s American Cancer Society Fit2Be Challenge, we’re proud to look back at our 2024 debut: 102 Freestone employees logged nearly 25 million steps in just three weeks! Our team’s effort earned us 1st place in the PNW Employee Step Challenge and raised $41,000 for cancer screening and care. Shoutout to Kimberlee Hansen, who placed 3rd in the PNW CEO One Day Challenge with an impressive 83,927 steps! We’re excited to take on the challenge again this year and continue making an impact. Let’s get moving! #CommunityOutreach #AmericanCancerSociety #WhatTrulyMatters

This week, we had the privilege of bringing together an incredible group of women at Browne Family Vineyards in Bellevue to discuss financial confidence, generational wealth, and today’s financial landscape. From expert insights to candid discussions, the evening was a powerful reminder of the importance of knowledge, community, and open conversations around wealth. A special thank you to our panelists—Christine Opp, CFA CFP®, Elizabeth Hollis, and Johnna Long, CPA—for sharing their expertise, and to everyone who joined us. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect and continue the conversation! #WomenAndWealth #WomensHistoryMonth #WhatTrulyMatters

March is a milestone month at Freestone—not only does it mark our founding, but it’s also a time to celebrate the many employees who have been part of our journey. This year, we’re recognizing team members with anniversaries ranging from 2 years to over two decades! Each of these individuals has contributed to Freestone’s growth, culture, and success, and we’re grateful for their dedication. Gary Furukawa, Bob Mellon, CPWA®, Kimberlee Hansen, Jason Mann, and Thy Guiley, CFP® - thank you for all that you do! #EmployeeAnniversaries #WhatTrulyMatters

Tax Tips with Freestone: RSUs & 1099s Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) can be a great way to build wealth—but if you’re not careful, you might overpay on taxes. If you’ve sold RSU shares, double-check your 1099-B form before filing. The cost basis—the amount already taxed when your RSUs vested—isn’t always reported correctly. If it’s missing or listed as zero, your capital gains may be overstated, meaning you could pay more in taxes than you actually owe. Nothing beats a day on the slopes with great company! This past weekend, members of the Freestone team spent the day at Crystal Mountain, enjoying the snow, good conversation, and time together outside the office. Events like these are a great reminder that strong teams are built not just through work, but through shared experiences. Thanks to everyone who came out—we’ll see you on the mountain again soon! #CompanyCulture #WhatTrulyMatters

Erik Morgan, Managing Partner at Freestone, recently sat down with Barron's Advisor to discuss Freestone’s evolution and key market trends shaping today’s investment landscape—including tariffs, AI, and international market exposure. At Freestone, we see uncertainty as a catalyst for new possibilities. While today’s market presents its share of challenges, we remain focused on identifying and acting on strategic opportunities—both in the short and long term. As we enter our 26th year, it’s valuable to reflect on where we started and what continues to drive us: a commitment to putting clients first. Markets evolve, industries change, but our core principle remains the same. Read more about Freestone’s perspective here: https://lnkd.in/es8ZmDxs #Barrons #WhatTrulyMatters
