Last month, Fischbach and Moore completed Phase 2 at the Forest Ave. Substation in Hudson, MA. During this phase, Fischbach and Moore, along with BOND Civil & Utility Construction, rebuilt and relocated the H-160 line section of the substation. The civil scope involved replacing fourteen shallow equipment foundations with seventeen new ones and installing two deep foundations for transmission line structures. From an electrical perspective, Fischbach and Moore installed a new 115kV breaker, three new CCVT’s, and three new 115kV disconnect switches. Our team also pulled all new control wire and upgraded the grounding system. Additionally, the existing H-160 transmission line was moved to its new position within the substation. This involved relocating the existing deadend/corner steel pole to a new foundation and erecting a new deadend pole to tie the line into its final location.

We are proud to have contributed to the New Bedford Pedestrian Bridge project, which was designed to replace the existing bridge over Route 18, providing seamless access to the newly constructed New Bedford train station. As part of this project, Fischbach and Moore installed critical systems including power distribution equipment, an emergency generator, lighting control for DMX and 0-10V dimming, and a fire alarm system. Additionally, we successfully completed the installation of over 300 architectural lighting fixtures. This project, a collaboration with Barletta Heavy Division, Inc. and led by the MBTA, marks another milestone in our ongoing commitment to delivering quality infrastructure solutions.

During the holiday period, FBM Testing successfully performed a load bank test on a 2000KW generator in Boston, ensuring compliance with NFPA 70B standards for emergency electrical systems. Additionally, our team completed a full electrical shutdown at Wentworth Institute of Technology. This included cleaning and testing all switchgear, MV switches, and power transformers. Thanks to the expertise of our technicians and electricians, this comprehensive maintenance was completed in one day, minimizing downtime and disruption while maintaining alignment with NETA - InterNational Electrical Testing Association and MTS Standards. Fischbach and Moore’s Testing Division was established over the past few months. This initiative involved training our team on the proper testing operations and equipment and sending several members for specialized infrared training. We have since focused on building strong relationships with our clients, enhancing their trust in Fischbach Testing through a commitment to quality, reliability, and integrity. We understand that electrical maintenance and testing are fundamental to a safe and reliable electrical system. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality services with minimal impact on client operations.
