Do you know a motivated college-student looking to gain experience over the summer? EWMA is excited to open applications for our annual Summer Internship Program for 2025! Once again we’re looking for motivated students to join our environmental science/engineering and marketing teams. EWMA is incredibly proud of the legacy of this program. As of 2025 we have hired four full-time employees who started with us as interns! Each year we get feedback from our participants in the program. Last years group described the benefit of gaining hands on experience outside of the classroom. Specifically, being given the opportunity to apply the things they've learned in real life situations at EWMA. We absolutely love this feedback and can't wait to provide this opportunity to more high-achieving students.

To celebrate our teams success in 2024, and spread some holiday cheer, we hosted our annual EWMA Holiday Casino Night once again! The event featured a variety of exciting games, including blackjack, roulette, and craps. Each team member had the chance to hit the jackpot before the final holiday rush began. This day was filled with good vibes and laughter along with some healthy competition between friends.   As always, EWMA took the opportunity to congratulate team members who hit milestone anniversaries in 2024. Our incredible receptionist, Rachel H. celebrated five years with the company. Craig Gorczyca, our Director of Operations and Waste Management celebrated an impressive thirty years with the team. We are grateful to both Rachel and Craig for contributing towards EWMA's success.   EWMA wants to wish each and every one of our followers a happy and healthy New Year. We are looking forward to what 2025 has in store for us!

Throughout 2024, EWMA's field team demonstrated remarkable dedication and professionalism while in the field. We want to highlight their excellence to close out this year.   One of EWMA's most recognized field projects in 2024 was located on Crescent Street in Long Island City, Queens. This high-rise project commenced in August with the initial phase focusing on soil characterization and identification of underground storage tanks during the first phase of redevelopment. Throughout the Summer this was a heavily hands-on project. Our field team was on-site daily monitoring soil disposal activities and conducting perimeter air quality monitoring while reporting to the NYC Office of Environmental Remediation (OER). The first phase is completed and our team is currently performing post excavation soil sampling activities while documenting the installation of the Site engineering control to close out the project. As we wrap up this work we want to congratulate each of our field professionals on their attention to detail and dedication to project completion. Well done!

As 2024 comes to an end, EWMA wants to recognize our incredible new staff members that joined us this year! Hugo, an Environmental Engineer and Rhadelsa, an Accountant both became members of our team in September. Hugo was drawn to EWMA due to our unique engineering projects, particularly in the area of vapor intrusion, as well as the potential to grow and learn. Rhadelsa joined our team seeking the learning opportunities available and also wanted to deepen her understanding between accounting and the environment. Finally, congratulations to Aidan who recently graduated from Colgate University. Aidan earned his degree in Geology and Environmental studies. He will be joining us full-time in January as a Geologist after completing an environmental science internship with us this summer. A big shoutout goes to Hugo Dos Santos, Rhadelsa Duran, and Aidan Guller for contributing towards EWMA's success.

Happy Halloween! Last week EWMA participated in the 30th Annual 'Trick or Suite' benefiting the PG Chambers School. The P.G. Chambers School provides special education and therapy programs for children with disabilities and developmental delays. It also provides programs for inclusive early education for children with and without disabilities. This years theme was The Great Pumpkin Patch. We had almost 200 Trick or Treaters and it was an absolute blast. We hope that all of the kids enjoyed pumpkin picking. Thank you so much to the EWMA staff and their families who contributed to making this event special!

EWMA's hobby highlight this week is focused on one of our Senior Project Managers and LSRP's, Francis Rooney. This past weekend, Frank traveled to Old Fort Niagara on Lake Ontario in New York to take part in his reenactment activities. He is dressed as a member of the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment (Black Watch) and his role was to defend the fort for the British Brigade. This looks like an incredibly action packed weekend and we can't wait to see some more pictures of the reenactments that occur in the future!
