Our biggest Design Lives Here event this year brought together over 360 students from 11 schools at Penn West Clarion last week for a day of innovation, creativity, and hands-on engineering challenges! Some students also participated in an Invention Showcase, where they developed prototypes to solve real-world problems. Congrats to Austin, Forest, and Dylan from Clarion-Limestone School District for their winning invention, the Lego Picker Upper! PSPE Annual Banquet at the ESWP tonight! Congratulations to all the award winners!

This past Thursday I had the privilege of attending the Engineers' Society of Western PA (ESWP) Annual Banquet as a member of the Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania (CAWP). It was a great time networking with other professionals and learning about the 2024 Projects of the Year, including the Pittsburgh Brewing Co's Iron City Brewery in Creighton and many others! In addition to hearing about some amazing projects, I had the pleasure of hearing from this year’s Individual Award Recipients, whose dedication to the industry and our Western PA community was truly inspiring. Their passion to make a difference in our local communities through engineering and construction is a great reminder of the impact our profession has to everyone around us as we start off the 2025 construction season. #CAWP #ESWP #Construction #Engineering #WesternPA

Congratulations to Herb Higginbotham PE, the recipient of this year’s William Metcalf Award of the Engineers' Society of Western PA. This award is in recognition of one’s lifetime accomplishments and dedication to the engineering community. Herb joined HDR in 2018 after working for other Pittsburgh-based engineering firms and dedicating nearly 24 years with Allegheny County in roles such as Director of Engineering and Construction, and Director of the Department of Aviation. While I know Herb is honored to have this award bestowed on him, we’re all honored to have him on our team at HDR. Congratulations, Herb!
