Last week, our team at Embassy of Scranton proudly participated in CASUAL (Colon Cancer Awareness Saves Unlimited Adult Lives) Day, an initiative led by the NORTHEAST REGIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE to raise awareness about colorectal cancer and the importance of early detection. Colorectal cancer remains one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers in Northeast PA, with incidence and mortality rates significantly higher than the national average. That’s why we joined thousands across the region in wearing our CASUAL Day t-shirts—to help spark conversations and encourage life-saving screenings. This meaningful event began in memory of Helen Phillips, who lost her battle with colon cancer in 2002. Since then, her family, friends, and the Cancer Institute have worked tirelessly to educate our community on the power of early detection. In 2024, more than 6,000 individuals participated—and every dollar raised stays right here in Northeast PA to support local cancer awareness and prevention efforts. We were honored to take part and help spread the message: Get screened. Talk to your loved ones. Early detection saves lives.
