Daniel Renner, AIA, El Dorado’s director of design excellence, will serve as the guest speaker and a juror for the 2025 Substance Design Forum Lecture & Prize Jury at Iowa State University - College of Design on April 21, 2025. Hosted by the ISU Deprtment of Architecture, the event will include a student competition from 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m., followed by Renner’s public lecture at 4 p.m. in Kocimski Auditorium, 0101 Design. Renner will delve into the ethos that “architects should make things,” exploring how this principle can influence practice. He’ll examine how hands-on craft and fabrication are not merely tools, but integral components of design thinking, fostering innovation and building first-hand knowledge. With human comfort and interaction at the forefront, Wadi Hanifa offers 20 km of professional and leisure cycling and jogging paths integrated into a diverse ecological wadi restoration project.The goal of the project was to offer a connection between movement, wellness and nature. The iconic Cycling Bridge provides a safe place for walkers and cyclists, elevating them above the traffic on King Khaled Road connecting Wadi Hanifa to the Promenade, offering a secure and scenic route. We want to extend recognition and a big thank you to all of the incredible people at the Sports Boulevard Foundation, to our design collaborators at El Dorado and TYPSA that helped develop this iconic bridge form, and to the construction workers who are building this incredible linear park.
