Medicare Part D plan enrollees are paying average premiums 24% higher this year than last year, while average deductibles for Medicare Advantage plans have increased 139%.These are the key findings from an eHealth analysis of the plans that Medicare beneficiaries selected during the recent Annual Enrollment Period. Inflation and higher medical care utilization factor into these increases, but they underscore the challenges faced by Medicare beneficiaries today.

Among other major healthcare headlines this week, Newsweek’s Access Health newsletter highlighted eHealth, Inc.’s latest research report, based on a survey of more than 1,000 Americans. Overall, seven in 10 graded the US healthcare system a “C” or lower. However, Medicare beneficiaries gave American healthcare higher grades than people with employer-sponsored coverage. eHealth CEO Fran Soistman explained to Newsweek’s Alexis Kayser why that might be.   #medicare #healthcare #headlines

How would you grade the US healthcare system? Seven in 10 Americans give it a grade C or lower. That’s one finding from eHealth’s latest original research, based on a survey of more than 1,000 Americans. Costs and access to coverage a big factors, with half of respondents saying they can’t afford their prescription drugs or get access to the care they need when they need it. We also learned that Americans are open to rethinking the way the healthcare system works, with 66% supporting a ban on drug companies advertising directly to consumers, and a majority willing to rethink key provisions of the Affordable Care Act.    Read the full report.   https://lnkd.in/gJx87JWj

What is ICHRA? 🤔 ➡️ About half of small business owners (55%) are unaware of group coverage alternatives like Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRA). ICHRA allow employers to provide a monthly stipend to employees so they can buy coverage of their own. eHealth regularly publishes research about the health insurance industry and healthcare consumers.
