Announcing the unveiling of The Calling, a monumental new public artwork by artist Andy Scott, proudly fabricated by Dyson & Womack. This stunning sculpture is now permanently installed in Saint Paul, MN, outside Allianz Field, and we're excited to share more about its creation and the journey behind it! Fabrication was completed at our Los Angeles workshop, with the piece transported to Saint Paul in 64 sections across 12 trucks! Standing 90 feet long and 33 feet tall, The Calling was installed over two weeks by our incredible team of five. The sculpture is built without an internal armature, relying on the intricate patchwork of the metal skin to support itself. We are grateful for the collaborative efforts of our partners: engineering with Nous Engineering, finishing bead blasting by National Sandblasting, and, of course, the visionary artist Andy Scott. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes content on how this remarkable artwork was brought to life! #engineering #metalwork #publicart #publicartca #dysonwomack #artfabrication #steelwork #stainlesssteel #saintpaul #saintpaulart #minneapolis #minnesota #artfabrication #allianzfield #mnufc

We are thrilled to announce the first cohort of the Public Artists in Development (PAiD) program’s Artist Council. Congratulations to the council! We truly enjoyed this kick-off event at LA State Historic Park with the council and the LA County program team! Dyson & Womack will work with the council over the next few months to craft inclusive, supportive, and impactful policy recommendations that transform the public art landscape. In addition, each artist will work with us to produce a temporary public artwork, so stay tuned to learn more about where you can see each artist's work! PAiD Artist Council members include: Adee Roberson Dominique Moody Edgar Fabián Frías Jazmín Urrea Michelle Sui Noé Montes Star Montana Terrick Gutierrez This eight-person group of artists come from a variety of artistic backgrounds and has been selected to help further the PAiD program’s mission of promoting the career growth and economic empowerment of underrepresented artists in LA County. PAiD was created to address barriers to participation within Civic Art and across the broader field of public art, while intending to highlight new practices that can better support artists’ needs. The Artist Council is one component of the larger program and will engage members in a series of in-depth conversations with other artists, subject area experts, and public art administrators to create recommendations to improve our Civic Art practices and offer resources to the field. Artist Council members will also each develop a temporary public art project, intended to further their creative practices and explore some of the topics discussed in the program. The PAiD program is made possible through a grant by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (Mellon Foundation). The Artist Council is being further developed and managed by Dyson & Womack.
