  • “When HBO’s 'The Dark Money Game' unveils its two-part documentary series - OHIO CONFIDENTIAL and WEALTH OF THE WICKED, directed by Oscar winner Alex Gibney - viewers will encounter not just a gripping investigation into political secrecy, but a score that feels like part of the conspiracy. That sonic tension comes courtesy of Peter Nashel, whose work as a composer has spanned everything from I, Tonya to Marco Polo - and whose impact on the world of commercial audio runs just as deep. Peter is not just a composer - he’s the founder and creative engine behind duotone audio group, a boutique sound company that’s become a go-to for brands like Nike, Apple, Rolex, Prada, Google, and Dell. With duotone, Peter brings his cinematic instincts into advertising, creating scores that don’t sell - they speak, challenge, and transform”. ☝️ Head to LBBonline - Little Black Book to read the full article, where they discuss Peter Nashel's score for “The Dark Money Game” (premiering TONIGHT on HBO) and how Peter’s work in the film informs the commercial work we do here at duotone.

  • "The Dark Money Game," the new HBO docuseries scored by our Founder/Executive Creative Director Peter Nashel , premieres tomorrow. This two-part series investigates the role of dark money in American politics… and how untraceable funds have influenced our elections, judicial nominations, and supreme court cases. The film marks yet another collaboration between Peter and Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney. Catch Part 1: Ohio Confidential streaming tomorrow on HBO. Part 2: Wealth of the Wicked, will be available to stream on Wednesday.

  • Thrilled to share that Reproductive Refrain - an important film from Tall Poppy and Forward Midwifery that we had the honor of music supervising and mixing - has been shortlisted at the AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers) Awards! We’re recognized in the Film Craft – Music: Licensed category for our placement of “Bloody Mother Fcking Asshole”* a powerful anthem by the iconic Martha Wainwright that perfectly underscores the film’s advocacy for reproductive rights. Huge congrats and thank you to Karsten Jurkschat and Alex Little at Tall Poppy for creating such meaningful work and inviting us to be a part of it.

  • Introducing: “The Missing Issue”, from The Harris Project in collaboration with Us Weekly. This film, alongside a special-edition magazine released today in print, seeks to reframe how substance use disorder is portrayed in the media, supporting The Harris Project’s mission as the only national nonprofit focused on co-occurring disorders (COD) awareness, prevention, treatment, and recovery. We had the honor of producing the music for this film, selecting and reimagining Third Eye Blind’s “Semi-Charmed Life” as a haunting, stripped-down rendition that underscores the project’s core message. Working closely with the team at Havas, our own Dana Hom led the licensing effort in collaboration with BMG to secure the iconic track, while composer Jordan Lieb and EP Ross Hopman transformed it into something profoundly different from its upbeat origins. Our vision was to re-contextualize a familiar song about the cycle of addiction and turn it into an emotional touchpoint dripping with nostalgia and gravity. A piece that invites viewers to more deeply reflect on the intersection of mental health, addiction, and our shared responsibility in changing the narrative. Final mix and sound design done by duotone audio post. Huge thanks to our talented partners at Havas Josh Kornrich, Dan Lucey, and Melissa Tifrere for trusting us with this meaningful work. The Harris Project is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of teens and young adults with co-occurring disorders. • Big congratulations to Dana Hom for being selected for the 2025 Creativepool Annual Awards jury! 🏆

  • We were honored to produce original music for Ben Hanson and Simon Frost's video collaboration with artist Sara Pope, titled "Portrait of a Voice." The short documentary follows Sara as she creates a custom lip portrait for Yvonne Johnson, who is currently living with Motor Neuron Disease. Through their collaboration, they sought to create a painting that captures the spirit of Yvonne's voice, and her unconquerable joy -- raising money and awareness. Much love to Justin Ebert and Niraj Zaveri for creating this beautiful concept and bringing us in to create the custom score to go alongside the striking video. Additional thanks: Stuart Moss at Rolls Royce Sara Pope @sarapopeartist Yvonne Johnson @this.is.me.not.mnd Tim Nudd at AdAge for the thoughtful coverage on this project If you are able to donate or wish to learn more, please visit: www.portraitofavoice.com
