We can’t believe it’s already been a couple of weeks since our 7LV Tasting Room Groundbreaking Ceremony—time flies when you’re making history! We’re still beaming with pride and gratitude from the incredible turnout and the overwhelming support of our amazing 7LV community. It was a day filled with energy, excitement, and celebration as we took the first step toward a new chapter for 7 Lady Vineyards. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this milestone moment. We’d especially like to recognize Tom Winfree, Goochland District 3 Supervisor, Matthew Lohr, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry, and our very own winemaker Ben Jordan for their meaningful words and support during the event. This new tasting room represents more than just a beautiful space—it’s a place where wine, community, and memories will flourish. We can’t wait to welcome you when the doors officially open. I started as a Server, and now I’m thrilled to be stepping into the role of Banquet Captain. Over the past year, I’ve grown so much—whether leading events, collaborating with clients and vendors, or diving deeper into my passion for wine and our incredible wine club. What makes Dover Hall so special? It’s our team, our people. Working with such a talented and supportive group inspires me every day. Plus, no two days are ever the same; one moment, I’m coordinating weddings, and the next, I’m sharing our wines with guests. Thank you to everyone who’s made this past year unforgettable. This recognition, celebrated at London’s Kimpton Fitzroy alongside distinguished venues from around the globe, is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence. Today, we were thrilled to receive our stunning Glass Award (and oh my, it's heavy). We are so grateful for Executive Sous Chef, Nick Lawrence's tireless contributions to our team at Dover Hall Experiences. Here is Nick in his own words on his five year journey. "The first time I drove up to Dover Hall for my interview, I was intimidated by the giant multi-story building, and the mile long driveway. I had my interview with owners, Chad and Jeff, in the billiards room, surrounded by the leaping tiger, towering over me, and ostriches and alligators staring at me. You can imagine how intimidating that must have been. It didn’t take long for me to realize that Dover Hall was where I belonged. Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Chef Leah Randolph, fleshing out our Culinary Internship program. This year marks our third year of coaching young culinarians on their way to becoming killer chefs! Watching their growth, and culinary development through real life experience is extremely personally rewarding. Some of them have even stuck around permanently! But, the interns are not the only ones learning! Since joining Dover Hall Experiences in 2020, my role has evolved significantly. I have had the opportunity to grow as a chef, not only through technical skills, but with artistic and leadership skills, as well. I’ve especially enjoyed the opportunity to expand my culinary portfolio through collaborative efforts in creating menus for unique wine dinners. My next goal is to become a cheesemonger and to have a helping hand in developing the culinary experience at 7 Lady Vineyards new tasting room. To celebrate my two-year anniversary as Director of Business Development for Dover Hall Experiences, I thought I’d share team accomplishments for which I am very grateful. We expanded our venue offerings, including the introduction of the Glass Hall—a 6,400-square-foot, climate-controlled event space with 13-foot-tall glass walls and a 24-foot ceiling, accommodating up to 400 guests. This addition to Dover Hall allows us to host a wider array of fun and opulent weddings for a rainbow of people and cultures. It also expands our venue capacity for corporate, private and philanthropic celebrations. Every Team member of Dover Hall Experiences can be very proud of our Non-profit Partnership Program and our philanthropic contributions which raise enormous amounts of funding for amazing and important causes. At 7 Lady Vineyards, we launched our wine brand’s website, online wine store, and grew our wine club. This year, we’re building our California-style tasting room on the rolling land of the Dover Hall Estate. We’ve also added two gifted members to our team through the talent pipeline of an invigorated hospitality internship program. One in our Sales Management and one on our Culinary Team. We doubled down on our commitment to Sustainability collecting 18.000 pounds of compost and our honey bees got a wonderful home to do what they — make honey. One of my greatest joys working with this team is sharing content and conversations back and forth with our curious-minded team members. The subject range is vast: wine, sustainability, Einstein, hospitality, strategic marketing, brand voice, UI, to LLM and AGI and the impact it will have on our industry and our evolving hospitality stars here at DHE. The overarching theme of all these conversation is how we can be better every day. And sometimes it takes weeks and months. I’m thankful to be part of a team that continually strives for excellence and creating lifetime moment for our guests. It’s a privilege to contribute to DHE’s mission of providing genuine hospitality through unrivaled events, intentional service, and thoughtful cuisine. None of this is possible without our devoted Culinary team, Operations, Event Managers, Banquet Captains, Servers, Bartenders and Facilities personnel. They are the ones behind the scenes making the magic happen and deserve the accolades we receive from our clients. Our team’s talent and dedication is why Dover Hall was recognized by Condé Nast Johansens as the Best Venue in North America for “Weddings, Parties, and Celebrations.” A strong accomplishment for a hard-working hospitality group 15 minutes from Richmond, VA, and one that make us work harder Shout out to all the terrific mentors who shared their wisdom and hard-earned experience to save me some bumps in the road. To my mentors, and Dover Hall Experiences, thank you for putting me in a position where I can give back every single day. I am filled with gratitude for the journey we are on together.
