📣 Exciting news! We have received approval for our fourth interim housing community in Santa Barbara County, this time focusing on families. The 32-unit village, to be built near the Calle Real campus, is designed to meet the unique needs of parents and children transitioning out of unsheltered homelessness. While this project differs in design from our typical model, the goal remains the same: to bring people indoors quickly and with dignity and connect them to the services that support long-term stability. We’re grateful for our continued partnership with the County of Santa Barbara and proud to help lead the way in solutions that adapt to local needs while staying rooted in our mission. DignityMoves is proud to co-sponsor SB 16, introduced by Senator Catherine Blakespear, alongside the Bay Area Council, Mayor Matt Mahan, California Grocers Association, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, and the New California Coalition. This legislation addresses one of the most significant barriers to scaling interim housing: funding for supportive services like case management and behavioral health care. SB 16 helps ensure these essential services are co-located with shelter—and that counties and cities share the responsibility for delivering them. Homelessness is a complex, statewide challenge. Solving it will take bold leadership and true collaboration. SB 16 is a strong step forward. 🔗 Link to POLITICO story in comments!

Our staff had the incredible opportunity to join DignityMoves and HomeFirst for the Adopt-A-Unit program at Modesto and the Via del Oro site in San Jose. We adopted two units that are prepared to welcome unhoused neighbors into a safe, dignified, and supportive community. We look forward to the grand opening of Via del Oro on April 24th: huge thanks to the team at DignityMoves for the chance to be part of something so meaningful! #CommunityImpact #VolunteerWork #EndingHomelessness #DignityMoves #SanJose #ViaDelOro

Founder and CEO Elizabeth Funk shares one reason why the Grand Opening of Dignity Village Modesto is so powerful: collaboration. The City of Modesto and Stanislaus County came together with purpose, vision, and urgency—driving this project forward to serve our neighbors experiencing unsheltered homelessness. The new 42-unit interim housing community is a testament to what’s possible when stakeholders work together—and a model for how other communities can implement bold, effective solutions to homelessness.
